<br />
Some of the bad things I've read from the internet regarding GBA:<br />
- "Battery was not fully charged when received item (Usually its fully charged)"<br />
- "it only lasts 4 hours after a full charge"<br />
- "takes 30mins to boot up"<br />
- "gets really hot really fast"<br />
<br />
Here's my experience:<br />
- Email correspondence with GBA are quite prompt.<br />
- Payment is required upfront and booking must be made on their website.<br />
- I booked my pocket WiFi in November 2013. I paid ¥9400 for 15 days.<br />
- My <i>only beef</i> was the dates I booked was from 8th-22nd April which I count as 14 days (¥9100) but GBA calculated it as 15 days (¥9400) but its only ¥300.<br />
- They posted it directly to my hotel.<br />
<br />
- Even though, the pocket wifi's battery was outstanding (lasting a whole day from 9 to 6pm), I went and bought me an <a href="http://www.ianker.com/product/79ANBCP-03A" target="_blank">Anker</a>. No regrets. *<span style="font-size: x-small;">You cannot buy batteries from Amazon UK from Australia, luckily, I had someone who was in UK and brought it back for me</span>* <b>#thankyouAmazonPrimeTrial. </b>I remember using it using it once or twice to charge the unit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ianker.com//images/pics/goods_img/79ANBCP-03A/79ANBCP-03A-BF02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.ianker.com//images/pics/goods_img/79ANBCP-03A/79ANBCP-03A-BF02.jpg" height="200" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
- I do leave it to charge overnight every night and unplug it when I wake up so I don't know how long it takes to fully charge the unit.<br />
- I would turn it on around 9-10am and the battery would last until probably 6-8pm.<br />
- It was warm but not boiling hot as some commented on forums<br />
- I took probably 1-2 minutes to boot up<br />
<br />
- This unit has a power saving mode. So to bring it back to connection, I would hold the power button for 2-3 seconds. Pressing it for 5 seconds or longer will turn it off.<br />
- I didn't know this because I didn't read the manual. So until it was time to go home, throughout my entire trip... I was turning the unit off and on to get back my connection "which bloody keeps dropping out".<br />
- Important lesson for me is to READ the bloody manual.<br />
- I cannot stress how important it is to have internet on you while in Japan... <b>#youreallyneedGPS</b><br />

<BR>I am on holiday in Malaysia. I visited <a href="http://www.sunway.com.my/Pyramid/">Sunway pyramid shopping mall</a> and saw this amazing window display selling <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rilakkuma">rilakkuma</a>s. Very well done display... unfortunately it didnt make me wanna walk into the store. However as I was taking snaps of the display... out walks the shop owner ...
<P>
<BR>Shopowner (appearing suddenly next to me) : Come in, come in. Can take more photos inside!
<P>
<BR>Me (Caught by surprise.. stunned and speechless... I could only nod my head and walk inside)
<P>
<BR>Shopowner : Come and take more photos, Got 20% discount please look.
<P>
<BR>Watching me like a hawk, I pretended to be interested as I browsed her rilakkuma assortments.... while sighing (many many times) to myself in my mind.
<P>
<BR>
Luckily more victims (a couple) was looking at her window display (which I must admit, really demands your attention) and out she went to lure them in. It was then, that I fled as fast as I could.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526121360922104130.post-38415630779685894472011-01-02T00:24:00.002+11:002011-11-23T19:21:22.925+11:00Blog 4.0 say no to plasticsMy 2011 resolution is simple, and that is; 'I can only buy one <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gundam">gundam</a> model kit a year'. This isn't actually a resolve but more of a challenge for myself which have been heavily modified from my intial resolve which was to grow a beard.<div><br /></div><div>Why am I only enforcing this challenge upon myself? Well its simple.</div><div><a href="http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x388/limucat/Blog/Gundam/IMG_7201.jpg"><img src="http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x388/limucat/Blog/Gundam/IMG_7201.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 180px; " /></a></div><div>These are just the model kits that I have not even started putting together yet. Yup, you counted right, 14 of them. Looking back at the sporting events that we've competed in, it appears that he's defeated me at FIFA10 (on the playstation3), and at excessive alcohol consumption. But I did comprehensively defeatedly owned him at badminton. So for 2010 final result is <b>Mr.P 2</b> v <b>1 Jaystin</b>. </div><div><br /></div><div>You may have won again, you fiendish fiend! But this year includes new sporting events that you won't have the upper hand in, and now the playing field will be even! Looking forward to basketball and knitting! muahahaha.</div><div><br /></div><div><b><u>2. Planning and going to Bangkok</u></b></div><div>Ohh! My first international trip. I loved the experience, especially doing my research on hotels and travelling around the city. Looking back, I think I could have stayed there a few more days just so I could see the temples and islands. Definitely worth another trip there.</div><div><br /></div><div><b><u>3. 128</u></b></div><div>Hot pot night, badminton, excessive alcohol consumption, board games. As curious as I was as concerning Mr.P's sudden craving for FIFA11;, I couldnt make it and Nat Chan came down with another mysterious rash appearing in an inconspicuous area of his body. I've lost a few games and won a few games at Winning Eleven 9 (PS2 format) circa 2007 and to be honest I can't even remember them good ol' days and my rivalry/grudge/whatever you call it, in my mind, I thought I killed this insalubrious relationship with Mr.P, dead and buried along with my other past sins (excessive commenting, not going to the gym on my days off, illegal parking, etc).</div><div><br /></div><div>But nooo, on Friday the 3rd, Mr.P poured hot oil over a burning flame. I was discussing with <a href="http://mirukuchii.blogspot.com/">Milktea</a> about a possible second international foodview, when I received a text from Mr.P and it read,</div><div><br /></div><div>"Hey Unicorn, Guess what? Mr.P and Nat Chan both have copies of FIFA11 on their XBOX /PS3 and needlessly to say that they play it religiously.</div><div><br /></div><div>2. It could have been cooked a bit more. But I gobbled it down.</div><div><br /></div><div>Sauce:</div><div>The flavour is missing. Yes it was. Gone to chinatown, I imagined. Perhaps thats why the lightly salty soup was served together with this dish?</div><div><br /></div><div>Pork:</div><div>Perhaps this could be the saving grace for this dish. They did give a generous portion of meat. The meat was tender and divine. Well done! However! The skin was not crispy at all. It was more like chewy and not a trace of crispy-ness.</div><div>Everyone should take a lesson in Crispy-skin pork from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siu_yuk">wiki</a> or even <a href="http://gundamhotel.blogspot.com/2010/07/foodview-18a-pacific-house-melbourne.html">Pacific House</a>.</div><div><br /></div><div>Overall :</div><div>For AUD9, I think these guys could have </div><div>a) given more noodles. In short, protein bars dont taste so good.</div><div><br /></div><div>Value : 2 out of 5</div><div>Taste : 2 out of 5</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526121360922104130.post-9254403650612739552010-11-22T11:17:00.001+11:002010-11-22T11:25:11.634+11:00Review 1.1 Tune Hotel, Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia<div><div><div><div>With the Australian dollar being oh-so-mighty, I bought my cheap ticket from <a href="http://www.airasia.com/au/en/home.html">AirAsia</a> and booked myself 'cheap' accomodation at<a href="http://www.tunehotels.com/"> Tune hote</a>l.</div><div><br /></div><div>With Tune hotels, you basically pay for every single thing you use from usage of the TV to air-conditioning. Thereby 'saving' you money.</div><div><br /></div><div>So if you are coming into Malaysia via AirAsia, you will arrive at the <a href="http://lcct.klia.com.my/">Low Cost Carrier Terminal</a> and not the<a href="http://www.klia.com.my/"> Kuala Lumpur International Airport</a>. In short, its the lousier airport.</div><div><br /></div><div>TRANSPORT</div><div>Now from LCCT, if you are travelling alone and intend to save money you could take the <a href="http://www.skybus.com.my/">Skybus</a> (You can buy tickets just before you exit customs and walk about 200-300m to the skybus bus stand) to the <a href="http://www.klsentral.com.my/">KL Sentral train station</a>, and make your way round the huge construction site to a make-shift bus station (as of October 2010-you can get directions from the Monorail station if you cant find your bearings) and then take <a href="http://www.rapidkl.com.my/network/bus/busroutes?view=routedetails&routenum=U89">RAPIDKL U89</a> bus route (bus fares are very very cheap RM2-3) which will pass by the hotel (just tell the driver). Or if you are travelling in a party of 4 then I highly recommend taking a taxi directly to the Tune hotel. Make sure you purchase a taxi ticket from the airport counter and not get jibbed by rouge taxi drivers outside the airport. I remember it was roughly about ~RM120 and if you divide that by 4 persons, that's alright considering how far you have to travel.</div><div>Remember that the mighty Australian dollar gets you RM3 (as of October 2010) so just spend a little and travel by taxi.</div><div><br /></div><div>HOTEL RECEPTION</div><div>Once we've arrived at the hotel, it's a very colourful building, but I mistakenly thought that the entire building was the hotel but I found out that it only took up the 3rd and 4th floors of the building.</div><div>If you happen to be driving, there is underground parking with lifts that will take you up to the hotel floors. The carpark appears to be still under construction so for now I guess parking is free.</div><div>So I entered the ground floor and I can see portable banners setup up by the elevators guiding us to the 3rd floor.</div><div>Once at the 3rd floor, I saw guard at his desk doodling on his notepad. Two out of commission computers that I believe was meant for hotel guests to surf the net on but an operational wall-mounted LCD TV. Scroll below to see pictures. And lastly a nasty lady on duty at the reception. I wont comment on her rudeness and her inability to be of any assistance to me and my crew. I just hope her boyfriend/partner is proud of her. Suffice to say service is bad! PS. There is no free WIFI and no telephones in the rooms and you cannot use the telephones at the reception. The reception can organise taxis for you. </div><div><br /></div><div>HOTEL ROOMS</div><div>The rooms are not all the same size. You may get stuffed into a smallish room or a windowless room. However, I recommend you invoke your right as a tourist and demand to change to better rooms. I certainly did..</div><div>If you scroll down the photos, you can see the room I ended up with. Twin beds with a view.</div><div>The size is decent. Beds are great. Bathroom is small. Water pressure is decent. Toilet was blocked and flooded very easily... took forever for the contents to flush away.. I recommend not to wear shoes/footwear in your room but thats just me... it gets dirty really fast. So just get a little box as your make shift shoe box :)</div><div>I paid for air conditioning and the tv. But seriously you can save money and just use the free ceiling fan (Gosh, its sad when you have to call the ceiling fan 'free'). By the way, what's use of being called a budget traveller if you cant stand a little heat? If you really want to save money, then you can sleep in the corridors LOL the corridors have air conditioners running throughout the day :)</div><div>Also I was in my room trying to get some sleep and there were other foreign guests talking in the corridors and the walls must be thin a I could hear them talking loudly and I had to go out and tell them to keep it down. So yes, thin walls!</div><div>There are wall plugs for you to charge mobile phones and cameras etc. but use an international adapter.</div><div><br /></div><div>THINGS TO DO</div><div><a href="http://www.encorpbhd.com.my/thestrand/ct.php?kw=home">The STRAND</a> area has tons of restaurants. You can just cross the road and have lots of choices are your disposal. They open right up pass midnight. There are two mega supermarkets, <a href="http://www.carrefour.com.my/">Carrefour</a> and <a href="http://www.giant.com.my/">Giant</a>. Carrefour is on your left as soon as you walk out the hotel. Giant supermarket is straight ahead as you leave the hotel. You have to walk quite a distance to get to these supermarkets, I estimate 400m? But then again, I am a slow walker. As mentioned before, you can take the very cheap public bus transport but the bus intervals is very long, I imagine that you have to wait for hours... I waited for one to see how long the intervals were and I can tell you that the time I waited for the bus, I got married and had five children and the bus still did not arrive. </div><div><br /></div><div>My plans were to go to KL city and again with 4 persons, Taxi fares are reasonable. You can take a Taxi to the nearby 1Utama shopping complex and IKEA (About RM30). I went right up to my favourite shopping mall, Sungei Wang in KL city about RM70 (its roughly around this mark, I wrote down the fares somewhere but lost it and this is based on memory). Remember always ask to use the meter.</div><div><br /></div><div>FAVOURITE SHOPPING SPOTS (from most favourite to least)</div><div>1. <a href="http://www.sungeiwang.com/">Sungei Wang</a></div><div>2. '<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasar_malam">Pasar Malams</a>' or Night Markets set up along road at various suburbs/neighbourhoods throughout KL. Melbourne's equivalent would be <a href="http://www.qvm.com.au/">Queen Vic Market</a>... but totally cannot compare to pasar malams in Malaysia</div><div>3. <a href="http://www.1utama.com.my/welcome.aspx">1Utama</a></div><div>4. <a href="http://www.midvalley.com.my/">Mid Valley</a></div><div>5. I dont like going to the high-end shopping spots like <a href="http://www.pavilion-kl.com/content/">Pavillion</a>. (Branded stuff like Coach, Gucci, etc... forget about finding gundams here)</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>FINAL THOUGHTS</div><div>For a budget hotel, TUNE is still pricey. I discovered a cheaper hotel that includes air-conditioning, and drinking water dispensers and free WI-FI, all for much cheaper in the STRAND shopping area. Its just down the road from Tune. Beds, toilet and bathroom facilities are on par with TUNE. <a href="http://myhomehotel.com.my/">My Home Hotel</a>. I highly recommend this hotel over TUNE anyday. However, one thing that Tune hotels has an advantage is that its hotels are placed in many locations in KL, interstate and even overseas compared to the locally based MyHome Hotels.</div><div>So based solely for value for money, </div><div><b><br /></b></div><div><b>TUNE hotel gets a 2 out of 5 stars for me </b><b>for value and facilities</b>.</div><div><b></b></div><div><br /></div><div><b>My home hotels gets a 4 out of 5 stars for value and facilities.</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Scenes on the way to the hotel.</div></div></div><div><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/5079946181_7dfd57aa38_z.jpg"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/5079946181_7dfd57aa38_z.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 600px; height: 450px; " /></a></div><div>Finally after about an hour I've reached the Mahogani Persiaran</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/5080541250_c5c2bed603_z.jpg"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/5080541250_c5c2bed603_z.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 600px; height: 450px; " /></a></div><div>Looks pretty groovy</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4106/5082254465_a675b4effc_z.jpg"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4106/5082254465_a675b4effc_z.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 600px; height: 450px; " /></a></div><div>The 'hotel' looks very colourful</div><div><br /></div><div><div><div><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5082787972_4811d4298d_z.jpg"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5082787972_4811d4298d_z.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 600px; height: 450px; " /></a></div><div>Oh what's this, rooms for rent?</div><div><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5082787972_4811d4298d_z.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/5082787976_cc735dbc3f_z.jpg"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/5082787976_cc735dbc3f_z.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 600px; height: 450px; " /></a></div></div><div>Apparently Tune hotel only takes up TWO floors.</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/450761/+1079"></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/5082849116_c70489aefa_z.jpg"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/5082849116_c70489aefa_z.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="cursor: pointer; width: 600px; height: 450px; " /></a></div><div>The bus in question. Without a doubt that topic for me is (which is very close to my heart) is, <b>defeating my rivals</b>!... to smithereens... and stepping on them further until they become like powder... and then blowing them into the <a href="http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1park_display.cfm?park=221">Yarra river</a>.<div><br /></div><div>2010 is a great year, I reckon. That's when I started blogging heavily. It started out when Nat Chan gave me the gundam that ignited my <i>on-off</i> passion for gundams, the <a href="http://gan.20m.com/gunpla/takahiro/varietygrade.html">RX-78-2</a> (btw this pic is the hottest gundam I've ever seen... <i>*drool*</i>). From gundams, I started branching out to food reviews and and guides but the most fun I had blogging about was my rivalry with <i>everyone's favourite rival©</i>, <b>Mr.P</b>. </div><div><br /></div><div>Back in February 2010, I wrote this post titled, "<a href="http://gundamhotel.blogspot.com/2010/02/blog-05-lost-in-translation.html"><b><i>Lost in translation</i></b></a>" that I reckon is my 2010 most favourite blogpost. So much crap just came out of my fingers as I typed and typed and man, that was a long entry.
