Blog 4.0 say no to plastics

My 2011 resolution is simple, and that is; 'I can only buy one gundam model kit a year'. This isn't actually a resolve but more of a challenge for myself which have been heavily modified from my intial resolve which was to grow a beard.

Why am I only enforcing this challenge upon myself? Well its simple.

These are just the model kits that I have not even started putting together yet. Yup, you counted right, 14 of them. For some strange reason, I keep collecting these kits but take a very long time getting around to assemble them.

SO together with wisdom and advice from the gundam council of Australia (comprising of my two friends, Nat Chan, and The Evil Fluffy Piggy Melon), I am putting a stop on all purchases of gundams until I have completely assembled my current collection... but not until I get my hands on the March 2011 release of the SD Gundam Sinanju.

I am starting to realise that my real hobby may not be actually assembling these model kits but simply buying them.

There is also a second part to my 2011 resolution, which the gundam council of Australia has bestowed upon myself is to, "not view any gundam related to online-stores/website/youtube for 1 whole month except of course if it is related to my own gundam event i.e. filming my gundam with guest commentator, Nat Chan; and or blogging about gundam and doing the required research on it"

With my 2011 resolution out of the way, let's move onto the highlights of 2010.

1. Everyone's favourite rival©, Mr.P

Last year, my battle against Mr.P was revived. Looking back at the sporting events that we've competed in, it appears that he's defeated me at FIFA10 (on the playstation3), and at excessive alcohol consumption. But I did comprehensively defeatedly owned him at badminton. So for 2010 final result is Mr.P 2 v 1 Jaystin.

You may have won again, you fiendish fiend! But this year includes new sporting events that you won't have the upper hand in, and now the playing field will be even! Looking forward to basketball and knitting! muahahaha.

2. Planning and going to Bangkok

Ohh! My first international trip. I loved the experience, especially doing my research on hotels and travelling around the city. Looking back, I think I could have stayed there a few more days just so I could see the temples and islands. Definitely worth another trip there.

3. 128

Hot pot night, badminton, excessive alcohol consumption, board games. It is always fun to be in a gang. Keep it real in 2011, 128!

I absolutely love this movie, but this movie isn't everyone's cup of tea. It's not like Toy Story 3. This movie is about a cunning fox outwitting the evil farmers. My post today is about the cunning Mr.P outwitting the evil ... Jaystin?! Since when did I become a bad man?

So two days after my second consecutive loss at FIFA11, Mr.P wanted to have another round of FIFA11. As curious as I was as concerning Mr.P's sudden craving for FIFA11;, I couldnt make it and Nat Chan came down with another mysterious rash appearing in an inconspicuous area of his body. He's been getting plenty of those lately. I am worried. Get well soon NC! ^__^v

So off three guys went to play FIFA11, Mr.P, El Vino and our resident victim, Vince Cake.

The next day results came in just like our recent state election.

I can conclude that Mr.P has been undergoing intensive training to be able to beat El Vino who is currently FIFA11 ranked no.2 in Melbourne. I already suspected so because my last encounter against Mr.P, I felt like I was playing with someone else and not Mr.P.

I knew our conversation would be like one of those mentioned in my previous post, "lost in translation" but I just had to ask Mr.P

J: Hey Mr.P, so I heard about your scalping of El Vino

P: Uh huh

J: I heard you were feinting, rainbow kicking, bicycle kicking, dribbling, dunking and even diving. Looks like someone's been practising alot.

P: Noooooo... I haven't! The only times I play is when you guys come around.

J: :|

If you've played against the same person for a long time irrespective of any sport/game, you'll surely become familiar with their style. But Mr.P just changed overnight... it's like seeing Nat Chan with his slim cat-like body turning up the next day with a body like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Fantastic!

Now why can't I just blossom like that?

Foodview 3.2 Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant, Footscray

I like how this restaurant name is so generic. I think I'd name my chinese restaurant, "Hyper Prosperous Lucky Restaurant 888". Anyways, my search for Melbourne's best 'dry thin egg noodles' continues! Today's contestant is in Footscray.

Located on the infamous street where there are more clearways than cars.... Barkly street! or it is Hopkins street?

Anel Bum told me about this place... its a couple of shops away from Melbourne's greatest Vietnamese Pork Roll Bun, Nhu Lan. (Introduced by Mr.P and will review it one day)

mmmmmm Looks good the meats... great advertising tool.

Argh! Reflections!

Its quite small inside. The chopsticks were sticky as. BRING WET WIPES!

Nice decor. See that tiny poster with girls on it... It's the Miss Melbourne Chinese Pageant 2010!

That lady is not a customer but she's filling up jugs of tea concentrate.

Like OH MY GOSH AWESOME SOUP! This is the second restaurant in Melbourne (first is Pacific house in Richmond) that serves soup made with real veggies and meat! Not the plain soup that is made from MSG. So hearty and yummy. I would have paid for a big bowl.

I would definite add 1 star for nice hot chinese tea.

Nyam, nyam, Crispy skin pork. So tender, so juicy, not so fatty. AAA+++

Portions are great for AUD9

Cant speak much for the noodles. Dry and sticking together. Thank goodness for the soup. Not alot of sauce again!

Doing something different as of today, no more stars but

Value : Under $10! No complaints!

Final comments : The only thing that let me down was the noodles.I will definitely recommend and come back myself but I will bring my own wet wipes to clean the utensils. But will continue my search for the perfect thin egg noodles served by a restaurant.

Blog 3.8 A glutten for punishment

So my rivalry with everyone's favourite rival©, Mr.P has been re-kindled. I've lost a few games and won a few games at Winning Eleven 9 (PS2 format) circa 2007 and to be honest I can't even remember them good ol' days and my rivalry/grudge/whatever you call it, in my mind, I thought I killed this insalubrious relationship with Mr.P, dead and buried along with my other past sins (excessive commenting, not going to the gym on my days off, illegal parking, etc).

But nooo, on Friday the 3rd, Mr.P poured hot oil over a burning flame. I was discussing with Milktea about a possible second international foodview, when I received a text from Mr.P and it read,

"Hey Unicorn, Guess what? I just bought a Perfect grade 1/60 scale Gundam Benchpress limited edition from Bandai. It comes with GN drive dumbbells. I want YOU to build it!"

OH my gosh, Gym + Gundam = heavenly ecstasy. I was at Mr.P's in 2 seconds and to my surprise, El Vino and Vince Cake were there.

Notes : Very popular with the ladies... girls would randomly come up to him buy him cake and say goodbye to him by planting a big, fat wet kiss on his silky smooth baby face.

I must note that he is a very traditional man, the only video games he had played is Windows Solitaire. He joined us that night claiming that "he will use his chinese chess skills to learn how to play and win in FIFA11 in 30 minutes". Yea, right.

I soon realised there was no gundam when I saw Mr.P grinning holding his PS3 controller... I had been duped into another round of FIFA11 with MR.P and he brought reinforcements.

"Oh, where is the intrepid Nat Chan?", I asked Mr.P

"He refused to come tonight, something about a 'suddenly developing rash appearing in an inconspicuous area'", Mr.P replied.

"No comment", I cringed.

Mr.P shrugged back at me.

So onto the results of FIFA11 .

1. Again we are playing on goal difference, winner takes all with the loser have to fork it out.

2. Handicaps (which I failed to mentioned in my last FIFA11 catastrophe... so I had +8 goals the last time... )

Vince Cake should really started on +15 but El Vino was too afraid

Mr.P should have been on -1 and I refuse to give further comment

El Vino should have dropped more points to prove his superiority (and bragging rights) over Nat Chan.

As for me, I deservedly needed those 8 goals.

El Vino was vicious against Vince... Nat Chan couldn't even trash me 8-1.

With Vince paying for it. LOL. I am so lucky that he came along that night or it would have been two massive losses in a row. Mr.P could have gone easier on Vince Cake but then again, 128's are merciless people. El Vino should have dropped more points.

I am tired of losing to Mr.P and now have signed up for a secret FIFA11 training with a well-known FIFA11 player. I will be sure to kick some balls!. Stay tuned same bat channel and bat time.

Blog 3.7b Bomberman

First off I want to talk about Bruce Lee. I am not going to write about Brucie but I certainly do want to kick a certain individual with a Bruce Lee kick. I have about 37 comments that I like to share about lazy people but instead, I will just say to these people, "128".

Now I will summarise this entry (yup, so early in my post). I am so confident at playing at Atomic Bomberman that I will skip issuing a challenge to everyone's favourite rival, Mr.P and his sidekick Nat Chan, and instead issue a challenge to the world. fo shizzle.

What

According to Mobygames.com,

"Developed by Hudson© and published by Interplay©, Atomic Bomberman pits you against 9 opponents, human or computer, in the ultimate frag-fest.

For the uninitiated, you control a cute little guy who carries an endless supply of bombs. The idea is to kill your opponents with these bombs - dropping bombs near them, throwing bombs at them, kicking bombs towards them.

Background

In the year 20xx, there were eight great bomberman players in the land.

Yellow bomber (possesses God-like skills)
Purple bomber (possesses God-like skills but smells like salmon in real life)
Green bomber (some say this player will be the new generation god bomber but we disbanded before he could prove his God-like status)
White bomber v2 (replaced the retired v1)
Red bomber (Very defensive player)
Orange bomber (That's me, Jaystin Unicorn)
Black bomber (cunning player)
White bomber v1 (specialist at eating power-ups)

I think I roughly ranked everyone, with 1 being God-like to 8 not having God-like skills but still lethal.

We played all day and all night. We were so good that we developed our own 'moves' just exactly like WWE wrestlers with their finishing trademark moves.

Examples of my very own moves are 'C-cup cage©', and 'Release the beast©'.

We even formed the 'School of Bomberman', headed by both Yellow and Purple Bomber.

Current

It is now the year 2010, and it has been XX years since, and the school has long been disbanded. I have lost contact with mostly everyone except the Green bomber who is now jet setting all over the globe. He tells me that he doesn't play video games no more... let alone Bomberman.

Well as you know of my FIFA11 misadventures against two particular 128s, that I'm still Bruce Lee kickin' as an active video gamer.

So instead of yabbing, I will

a) find my Atomic Bomberman disc and install it (completed)

b) play one round against a team of the maximum allowable of 5 AI computers (completed)

c) single handedly defeat them in under 3 minutes (completed)

I know that I am ranked like no.6 in the world but with the others missing-in-action; and me being the only active bomberman player remaining, I have assumed the no.1 spot, thereby entitling me to challenge the world.

How?

It's easy.. via Nintendo DSlite. So if you are able to hook up your DS to the net, I will be more than happy to hand you your first bomberman defeat.

We will be playing the original Bomberman ( I will be the host )

You can hook up your DSlite using these cheap Wi-Fi connectors.

Blog 3.7a Prelude to a bomb

One day I turned on youtube and ol' hikkichan is quiting the music scene forever... her latest video and she looks tired.

and just the other day, I was lamenting to my old high school classmate, milktea about yet another loss to everyone's favourite rival, Mr.P. And you know what she said to me, "Maybe Mr.P is undeafeatably awesomeness cool 128 to the max!!!"... or something like that

I just cried and went to sleep.

Then on a cold Friday night, two dastardly figures met in a cold dark alley somewhere on the side lanes along Collins street in the city.

Dastardly figure 1: Hi Nat Chan

Dastardly figure 2: Hi Mr.P

Nat Chan: Hang on... why did you call me by my name? We are just two lines into this story and our identities have been exposed to the readers. We haven't even plotted out evil scheme against the courageous Jaystin Unicorn, defender of the SDs. Sigh.

Mr.P: Ugh. I like to smash things.

Nat Chan: Anyways, so how are we with our secret intensive 3-hours a day FIFA11 training?

Mr.P: Completed but I am already confident of beating him even without this training.

Nat Chan: But with a McDonald's meal on the line, I am not taking any chances. Plus he did say he just installed FIFA11 on his PC.

Meanwhile, Jaystin is at home tinkering with his PC.

Jaystin Unicorn: Oh woe is me, this pirated copy of FIFA11 doesn't work! I should have just bought the original copy instead of risking my PC to potential virus infections and I already know that dodgy pirated PC games have a high chance of not working as well as harming my PC.

So on Saturday night, Mr.P, Nat Chan (the current Australian FIFA11 champion, I might add) and myself decided to have a 3-way battle FIFA11 tournament.

Facts/excuses:

1. Mr.P and Nat Chan both have copies of FIFA11 on their XBOX /PS3 and needlessly to say that they play it religiously.

2. While I do have FIFA11 on my PC, I do not play it opting rather to paint my gundams or watch Star Trek Voyager. I have only played it a total number of 3 games - all 3 games I lost to the computer, I might add.

3. In my opinion, FIFA11 as well as Winning Eleven 2011's gameplay has changed dramatically. Therefore, I would have needed to play it alot to get used to it.

4. Everyone played 3 games with each other. Nat Chan devised a chart for the night

5. So the winner of the tournament gets a McDonald's meal paid for by the loser while second place gets nothing. So on total goal difference

Mr.P +5

Jaystin -8

The lowest point of my rivalry-ing career.

Nat Chan's chart. I nearly managed to draw 0-0 with Nat Chan but he had to score. sigh

The same scenario with Mr.P in round 1 and after that everything went downhill... like my cheeks.... both face and butt.

Cant remember if Nat Chan scored against Mr.P or was it the other way round.

That guy in the number 8 shirt is doing the 'climbing the invisible ladder' celebratory dance.

So congratulations to Nat Chan. Your Large Big Mac meal is on its way. Part 2 of this tale to be continued...

Foodview 3.1 Minh Xuong, Melbourne

So on Sunday, I was craving for Dry Egg noodles like, for the like all of last week like.

That's enough likes for the year 2010.

Anyways, I strolled myself down russell street, until I hit the corner of russell and little bourke street... the entrance to Melbourne city's china town.

I was short of time and cash and I hit the first asian restaurant I could find.

I found a target and chose to eat at Minh Xuong

Grrr I had to request for my chinese tea! But when the waiter came back, it was in a pot and the first thought running through my mind was, "Oh noes, do I have to pay for that?" (Bearing in mind that I was low on cash) Fortunately it was free. *sigh of relief*

The soup was not overly salty but salty enough to complement that tasteless noodles to follow...

Correct guess for the top left corner! Its just zoomed-in closer than the others. As Cookie Monster said, "You're so clever!"

Ok not sure why I took so many of the same photos. Anyways moving ahead, let's break down this foodview:

Egg noodles:

Not cooked to softness that I would have come to expect from any asian restaurant. It could have been cooked a bit more. But I gobbled it down.

Sauce:

The flavour is missing. Yes it was. Gone to chinatown, I imagined. Perhaps thats why the lightly salty soup was served together with this dish?

Pork:

Perhaps this could be the saving grace for this dish. They did give a generous portion of meat. The meat was tender and divine. Well done! However! The skin was not crispy at all. It was more like chewy and not a trace of crispy-ness.

Everyone should take a lesson in Crispy-skin pork from wiki or even Pacific House.

Overall :

For AUD9, I think these guys could have

a) given more noodles. It was paltry!

b) though the meat was excellent, it was let down by the skin. :(

c) put in more flavour in the sauce!

Taste : 3 out of 5 (thanks to the pork)

Value : 2 out of 5

I swear that Box Hill is the greatest place on earth. So many chinese cuisines. Nyam nyam!

With a claim like "dumpling specialist" especially in dumpling mecca that is Box Hill, I had to try out this place.

Sure enough it lived up to its claim. This particular dumpling was different from the other dumpling restaurants in Box Hill. It was mince-y.

Spicy Chicken and cashew on rice. Sweet and spicy indeed.

The chicken pieces was fresh as.

The Mandarin pork chop on rice was awesome.

The pork was cooked to perfection.

Taste : 5 out of 5

Value : 5 out of 5

Final comments:

A lovely cosy restaurant. Very popular with the asians and caucasians too. The chef is quite a character. Can be quite cramp in there. Highly recommend.

I love Milo....

This much! Don't worry I am not crazy nor too rich. Coles had a HALF PRICE SALE. AUD6 for each 1.25kg can. Sweet.

So next to the cans, there were Milo cereals and choc bars. Since I love Milo so much, I thought I buy a chocolate bar.

So this bar has a brownie! with caramel and milo balls (similar to the milo breakfast cereals)

Decent sized bar.

Just for comparison. Here it is next to my 3.5" IDE Hard disk that was the closest thing to me.

Dissecting it. I could taste the crunchy choco balls and caramel. Then I hit the brownie which I must say is very not nice. If you have eaten protein bars like I occassionally do, these Milo bars taste exactly like that minus the high protein content. In short, protein bars dont taste so good.

Review 1.1 Tune Hotel, Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

With the Australian dollar being oh-so-mighty, I bought my cheap ticket from AirAsia and booked myself 'cheap' accomodation at Tune hotel.

With Tune hotels, you basically pay for every single thing you use from usage of the TV to air-conditioning. Thereby 'saving' you money.

So if you are coming into Malaysia via AirAsia, you will arrive at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal and not the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. In short, its the lousier airport.

TRANSPORT

Now from LCCT, if you are travelling alone and intend to save money you could take the Skybus (You can buy tickets just before you exit customs and walk about 200-300m to the skybus bus stand) to the KL Sentral train station, and make your way round the huge construction site to a make-shift bus station (as of October 2010-you can get directions from the Monorail station if you cant find your bearings) and then take RAPIDKL U89 bus route (bus fares are very very cheap RM2-3) which will pass by the hotel (just tell the driver). Or if you are travelling in a party of 4 then I highly recommend taking a taxi directly to the Tune hotel. Make sure you purchase a taxi ticket from the airport counter and not get jibbed by rouge taxi drivers outside the airport. I remember it was roughly about ~RM120 and if you divide that by 4 persons, that's alright considering how far you have to travel.

Remember that the mighty Australian dollar gets you RM3 (as of October 2010) so just spend a little and travel by taxi.

HOTEL RECEPTION

Once we've arrived at the hotel, it's a very colourful building, but I mistakenly thought that the entire building was the hotel but I found out that it only took up the 3rd and 4th floors of the building.

If you happen to be driving, there is underground parking with lifts that will take you up to the hotel floors. The carpark appears to be still under construction so for now I guess parking is free.

So I entered the ground floor and I can see portable banners setup up by the elevators guiding us to the 3rd floor.

Once at the 3rd floor, I saw guard at his desk doodling on his notepad. Two out of commission computers that I believe was meant for hotel guests to surf the net on but an operational wall-mounted LCD TV. Scroll below to see pictures. And lastly a nasty lady on duty at the reception. I wont comment on her rudeness and her inability to be of any assistance to me and my crew. I just hope her boyfriend/partner is proud of her. Suffice to say service is bad! PS. There is no free WIFI and no telephones in the rooms and you cannot use the telephones at the reception. The reception can organise taxis for you.

HOTEL ROOMS

The rooms are not all the same size. You may get stuffed into a smallish room or a windowless room. However, I recommend you invoke your right as a tourist and demand to change to better rooms. I certainly did..

If you scroll down the photos, you can see the room I ended up with. Twin beds with a view.

The size is decent. Beds are great. Bathroom is small. Water pressure is decent. Toilet was blocked and flooded very easily... took forever for the contents to flush away.. I recommend not to wear shoes/footwear in your room but thats just me... it gets dirty really fast. So just get a little box as your make shift shoe box :)

I paid for air conditioning and the tv. But seriously you can save money and just use the free ceiling fan (Gosh, its sad when you have to call the ceiling fan 'free'). By the way, what's use of being called a budget traveller if you cant stand a little heat? If you really want to save money, then you can sleep in the corridors LOL the corridors have air conditioners running throughout the day :)

Also I was in my room trying to get some sleep and there were other foreign guests talking in the corridors and the walls must be thin a I could hear them talking loudly and I had to go out and tell them to keep it down. So yes, thin walls!

There are wall plugs for you to charge mobile phones and cameras etc. but use an international adapter.

THINGS TO DO

The STRAND area has tons of restaurants. You can just cross the road and have lots of choices are your disposal. They open right up pass midnight. There are two mega supermarkets, Carrefour and Giant. Carrefour is on your left as soon as you walk out the hotel. Giant supermarket is straight ahead as you leave the hotel. You have to walk quite a distance to get to these supermarkets, I estimate 400m? But then again, I am a slow walker. As mentioned before, you can take the very cheap public bus transport but the bus intervals is very long, I imagine that you have to wait for hours... I waited for one to see how long the intervals were and I can tell you that the time I waited for the bus, I got married and had five children and the bus still did not arrive.

My plans were to go to KL city and again with 4 persons, Taxi fares are reasonable. You can take a Taxi to the nearby 1Utama shopping complex and IKEA (About RM30). I went right up to my favourite shopping mall, Sungei Wang in KL city about RM70 (its roughly around this mark, I wrote down the fares somewhere but lost it and this is based on memory). Remember always ask to use the meter.

FAVOURITE SHOPPING SPOTS (from most favourite to least)

2. 'Pasar Malams' or Night Markets set up along road at various suburbs/neighbourhoods throughout KL. Melbourne's equivalent would be Queen Vic Market... but totally cannot compare to pasar malams in Malaysia

FINAL THOUGHTS

For a budget hotel, TUNE is still pricey. I discovered a cheaper hotel that includes air-conditioning, and drinking water dispensers and free WI-FI, all for much cheaper in the STRAND shopping area. Its just down the road from Tune. Beds, toilet and bathroom facilities are on par with TUNE. My Home Hotel. I highly recommend this hotel over TUNE anyday. However, one thing that Tune hotels has an advantage is that its hotels are placed in many locations in KL, interstate and even overseas compared to the locally based MyHome Hotels.

So based solely for value for money,

TUNE hotel gets a 2 out of 5 stars for me for value and facilities.

My home hotels gets a 4 out of 5 stars for value and facilities.

Apparently Tune hotel only takes up TWO floors.

The bus in question. Route U89, the intervals are not very frequent.

Apparently there are no bus stops just have to tell the driver where you like him to drop you off, just make sure its on his route.

The building is called Sunsuria and Tune is one of its tenants.

Upon entering the complex, you cannot turn in right just have to drive up straight.

And make a u-turn which takes you to the 'reception'

Not every facility has been completed constructed.

Car parking which is underground and the lifts will take you to the Tune hotel floors. Currently its free but once construction is complete, I guess you will have to pay for parking.

Just opposite the hotel is the Strand, lots of restaurants but not much of shopping unfortunately.

Ah, how clever of my ad community to come up with a challenge to choose one's favourite blog post for the year 2010. Without a doubt that topic for me is (which is very close to my heart) is, defeating my rivals!... to smithereens... and stepping on them further until they become like powder... and then blowing them into the Yarra river.

2010 is a great year, I reckon. That's when I started blogging heavily. It started out when Nat Chan gave me the gundam that ignited my on-off passion for gundams, the RX-78-2 (btw this pic is the hottest gundam I've ever seen... *drool*). From gundams, I started branching out to food reviews and and guides but the most fun I had blogging about was my rivalry with everyone's favourite rival©, Mr.P.

Back in February 2010, I wrote this post titled, "Lost in translation" that I reckon is my 2010 most favourite blogpost. So much crap just came out of my fingers as I typed and typed and man, that was a long entry. What I liked best about that entry was just how I mixed fiction with reality; and my passion for being competitive in sports... of course, provided that

a) I can play it

b) I can find someone to play against

c) I can defeat them

but most importantly what I love in that blog entry was how I can poke fun at Mr.P, well, just because I can. LOL

But I guess, I like all my blog entries because they are all about what I love to do anyways.

To cap off this nostalgia is a profile of everyone favourite rival©, Mr.P and the result of our latest battle.

Foodview 1.8b Pacific house, Melbourne

A legendary asian cuisine. Fried rice noodles. It can be served dry or 'wet' (meaning with an egg sauce gravy)

This is my second foodview from a favourite restaurant, Pacific House.

Comparing this to the mighty Laksa King restaurant of Flemington. It would win no problem.

Choc a block of goodies, meat, crabstick, fishcake, fishballs. OH MY GOSH. The egg gravy is much thicker compared Laksa King's watery egg sauce. Has more taste the Laksa King's bland fried rice noodles.

We have a winner.

On presentation, my spider sense immediately said boo

I was right, the only nice thing that I could mention was the pita bread

The meat was dry and flavourless

Chips were bland.

Final thoughts: Big servings of food but very small on taste. The overall experience doesnt justify the big pricetag.

Zoom in. Not bad for my first individual part spray paint job. My first time was spraying the entire runner in black (Strike Gundam SD) then cutting off the pieces but yea not a good idea. Its better to separate the pieces then spraying them.

Blog 3.1 Five things I hate/love about gym & gundam contest

I am starting out with 5 things for the moment until I discover more things that I hate/love about the gym.

1) The locker rooms - I love the electronic keypad lockers but dislike the wooden lockers... all dirtied and stained with black unknown substances. I have to bring like Aldi catalogues to line the locker before I store my change of clothes and stuff. :(

2a) Shoes ought to be banned from the locker rooms. People would bring in mud, tinea, urine and even possibly faeces on the floor. Hang on, you might say "You mighthaf, couldhaf bring them in too". Ah, but even if I did, it would be like minute-microscopic-bacteriasized dirt, lol, but the gym should at least get their instructors to mop the floor every few hours. They just stand around and chat most of the time - useless. I HAVE TO LEARN MY TECHNIQUES FROM YOUTUBE!!! WHAT?!

2b) Continuing from 2a. What grosses me out is despite the fact that floor is cover with all of the above mentioned, 80% of the guys would walk barefooted. YUCKS! Tinea much?

3a) To solo or not to solo. I am a solo gymer. This is because I wanna be in and out of the gym and make my routines quick yet effective. One of the ways to achieve this is to have 30 seconds intervals between sets. Now, if I were to gym with Mr.P, the chances are we would be talking about Nat Chan's tight jeans or his bogan haircut... meaning we would take probably 40-60 seconds intervals or even longer. That's why I try not to make friends at the gym.

3b) I'm not saying don't make friends, I personally think that it wastes time.

3c) If you do decide to have a gym partner. Do yourself a favour and find someone who is on the same strength level as you are. There is nothing worse that gym-ing with someone weaker than you. A fine example is when I went with Mr.P to the gym. We had to keep changing the plates on the barbell for the bench press... waste of time!

4) People who come to the gym in thongs... no, not undies (that would be gross depending on the gender) but as in slippers. Again the gym instructors are not around to chase these people out. WHAT?!

5) Guys who emphasize on using too heavy weights rather than technique. Frustrates me to see guys thrusting their pelvis when doing dumbbell curls. WHAT?!

A perfect world would be walking into the gym and seeing all buffed guys doing perfect techniques and its dead quiet except for the music playing. Nice.

I noticed that since my last gym update that I have been stuck in a plateau for the last 3 weeks so today I upped my

dumbbell bicep curls from 25kg to 30kg

seated calve raises to 35kg to 40kg

seated dumbbell shrugs from 30kg to 35kg

dumbbell bench press starting to include 1 set of 70kg

dumbbell shoulder press up to 40kg

There is really no place like ~~home~~ gym.

Foodview 2.7a Pancake Desert House, Melbourne

Back in the 90's I loved running, even went on to represent my school for 100m sprints. Of course I never won anything due to many, many factors but it had been a passion of mine. I'd watch every olympics and IAAF championships. Now in the 10's, that passion has melted like ice on the streets of Sunshine on a fine september day. Speaking of September, I really want that Mr.Men showbag just simply because I never wore a light blue cap.

And back to running, there is this marketing ploy that Nike is promoting, the Nike City Run 10K. Basically, its a challenge between two warring South East Asian countries (Malaysia vs Singapore). Those not familiar with the history of these two countries, ummm, well let's say their animosity for each other is like North Korea vs South Korea or Mr. Unicorn vs Mr.P.

So the city that runs the most km's by a certain date... will win lots of money donated to their respective charities. Being a neutral-former-south-east-asian-kid-now-residing-in-Melbourne, I hope Malaysia wins! One plan that is sure to guarantee that Malaysia wins is as follows

Located at Midcity Plaza, somewhere along the corner of Bourke Street and Russell Street in Melbourne CBD. The famous Desert house. There are a few dishes that lots of people would tell you to try. So today's foodview is on the Hong Kong Style Noodle Soup.

After promptly getting my seat, a menu is shoved in my face. Gotta love the Hong Kong service

No I cannot read chinese. But a great tip is to pretend that you can especially if you look chinese. You might not get free chinese tea but its something to do :| Oh yea, this dish cost AUD8.80

So many options, oh what is a boy to do? ewwww Pig's blood curd? gross

After selecting 3 of the options, you will be rudely asked what type of noodles and sauce and whether you like your noodles in soup or with sauce.

I picked

1) Wonton

2) Pig intestines

3) Pork spare ribs

4) Thin egg noodles

5) Beef brisket sauce

6) In a soup

Yummy these pig intestines are quite fleshy and CLEAN. I've been to restaurants where its not clean and you can find objects in there... such as marbles or a australian 5 cent coin

TIP: When going for dishes like this, Please dont waste you money on processed foods like fishball or spam. You can get these at the asian grocery store or Safeway. Go for things like real meat or prawns or chicken wings!

Pork spare ribs is always nice.

Wonton was especially nice. I saved it for last.

Cabbage?

Taste : 5 out of 5

Value : 5 out of 5

Comments : Very satisfied, not really filling, can be cheaper but I love it overall! Highly recommend!

Personally, I hate it. Its very boring. Bandai needs more creativity. Please don't whack a shield type thingy on the robot's shoulder and give it a cool name... that doesn't work with me.

Anyways, Mr.gundam reported on his super popular blog news site... that an super cute version of the Qan[T] will be coming out... Now that is something of interest. I was getting worried that Bandai wont ever release more cute SD versions of the gundam... well, the actually do but they make like samurai gundams which I hate very muchly. On to the foodview...

I have finally made one of many upcoming foodviews on the King of Flemington (dare I say King of all Victoria? Queen Victoria might object to that...), Laksa King located on Pin Oak Crescent on Flemington, Victoria.

A classic dish, Combination Crispy noodles. Basically this dish is thin egg noodles which are fried til very crispy, then a thick sauce is poured over it with meat of all sorts, usually seafood such as calamari, fishcakes as well as pork and vegies, bok choy and mushrooms.

Taste and more importantly quantity has been sacrificed as presentation seems to have taken priority at the new Laksa King. HULLLLO! I am an asian and I want value for my money!!!

Usually the prawns are de-veined. Not today though but there are no crap in it. LUCKY! :|

The sauce today was a bit salty for my liking.

The calamari or squid as usual, is too rubbery for me chew. My false teeth keeps falling out when I attempt to chew them.

While it taste and looks as the same as when Laksa King was at its old location, one big shocking change to this dish is the TINY amount of noodles. Its like the amount you get in 2-minute instant noodles. NOT HAPPY, Mr. Laksa King.

Overall comment : Sauce was a bit salty, the amount of noodles was not enough - there was more at the old location, for the price this dish calls for, I expected more. The amount of meat was standard... at their old location where one can peer into the kitchen, I saw the cook count the number of squid he allocates to a dish, 4. Knowing this, I wont complain about the meat, but cutting down on noodles is unacceptable. Tastewise - nothing spectacular.

Minifoodview 01

Pepperidge Farm®Milano cookies.

This is an American product that one will never ever see on any shelves in any supermarket in Australia. This and my other American favourites such as Captain Crunch and Reese's pieces - that were readily available back in my hometown somewhere in South East Asia. Actually, I think I've seen Reese's pieces being sold here but at a really outrageous price. Moving forward.

Suzuki the resident keyboardist in my band, bought these back with her after touring the States with her own band, The Suzuki Swifts.

I cannot comment on the price as I did not purchase this product but I imagine this would be very expensive.

Taste : 5 out of 5 stars

This cookie is a must taste. Its unlike anything cookie I've ever eaten. Very very very yummy. Portions is not alot. I don't imagine I will be buying this product if it did ever come to Australia.

Minifoodview 02

Kellogg's® Special K® Chocolatey Bars

Special K is a cereal that is market by Kelloggs that can or may help one to lose weight. *coughliescough* These bars are new products from the Special K brand, It was on sale at Woolies for AUD3.00. They look really nice on the box but its anything but.

Maybe its possible to lose weight with Special K, because you don't really eat anything. A 7-cm bar that's the world's shortest bar. Sigh

I've never been a fan of cornflakes as a bar. Look at the thin layer of chocolate.. you can tell th cornflake bar was pressed over a layer of chocalate. I suppose since its aimed for those wanting to lose weight, one shouldnt be eating too much chocolate.

Taste is nothing spectacular. I have taste better bars than this. The tiny size of the bar is really what put me off.

Homebrand Cup noodles from Woolworths.

If you want no-fuss, cheap and with no-asian writings of any country written on your cup noodles, head into Woolworths and buy Suimin - don't worry for the xx years that I've been eating Suimin, I've not eaten any metal bits.

Nat Chan and myself were in Woolworths the other day, and between us, we only had AUD0.80 (Nat Chan had 30cents and I had the fity cent). After much begging, Nat Chan loaned me his thirty cents, which allowed me to purchase the following...

This is super cute! The seasoning has pictures of cows! Like cute!

After a couple of minutes, this is the product. Saying my prayers and leaving my gundams to Nat Chan in my will, I took my first bite and had a sip of the soup.

The taste of the soup was neither beef nor anything I had ever tasted. I would definitely not call it beef. Must be a new kind of taste that has been mistakenly called beef. Maybe this new flavour should be called FEEB. I was really loss for words while eating the noodles. The noodles were actually pretty good and the soup wasnt too salty.

Yes, only on this food review site will you find a review on frozen tv dinners. Well, I did mention that this discerning review site is aimed at the budget conscious individual à la, E's so tight 'is arse squeaks.

Moving forward. Today's foodview is something close to my heart or stomach. Frozen tv dinners. I work on the 52th floor in Melbourne's tallest building and getting out to lunch is much a hassle. So I always turn to a reliable brand, McCain which I can buy at my local Woolworths store.

Before I get into the foodview, y'all must see this novelty toy

I bought mine but failed to convince my co-~~pofters~~workers to buy one too. Anyways, this retails for USD 22.20 EXCLUDING postage BUT if you buy it at dealextreme, its cheaper and has FREE postage. Nice. There are also dog and other feline versions but this is the only version on dealextreme.

I dont think there are many brands available in Woolies. I think McCain own the entire Australian frozen tv dinner industry. It is rather expensive at AUD6.25 a meal and the portions are really small. Taste-wise is passable. I only recommend getting it when Woolies does its specials like 4 for AUD20 or something.

I havent been on ebay for a very long time ever since I discovered dealextreme.com. That and also I learnt a very painful lesson on ebay... never bid on anything you dont intend to buy, such as a AUD1,500 Toshiba ~~crap~~laptop that I won. Thankfully, I managed to offload it... but at a loss. Still, the thrill of outbidding others in the dying seconds of an auction is indescribable. NOTE: Don't ever buy laptops off ebay! They'll withhold any drivers or software that came with the laptop, and make you pay extra if you want it! Asians... no doubt about it.

Today I placed my first bid/s (since May 2009. Gosh, that's a long time). For

Dumbbells. Yup, if y'all remember I found a perfect mint condition adjustable flat/incline bench on the streets of North Melbourne and carried it home. So it would prove useful to me if I had weights to train on it. So I'm hoping I win these dumbbells. Oh, gotta run these by Mr.P to see if AUD90 is paying to much for these dumbbells.

In other news, I have finished painting my BB#257 Freedom Gundam SD. I will upload a youtube of the paintjob shortly. Speaking of Freedom Gundam, this year's 2010 Perfect Grade gundam is none other than Strike Freedom Gundam! Coinkidink?

I wish I could say that our first gig venue was as above but being a wedding, it was a at function hall in eltham.

My band, Jaystin and the Unicorns were invited and we only played one song, which was a cover of Coolio's I'll c u when u get there. Thanks to our intrepid cameraman, there was only one photos of us playing (to the very left of the photo, you can barely see Mr.P without his shirt on the drums)

To pull off the cover song, I needed a choir as well as 3-piece orchestra, so I called on the Eltham symphony orchestra and choir girls.

Foodview 2.4 Fryske Dumkes, Netherland

The aim of International foodviews is to showcase and have an appreciation of the different and yummy foods from around the world! The following is her review]

hey all! I am [Name withheld] aka Mirukuchii aka Milky aka Milktea ;)

Mr Jaystin himself asked me if perhaps I could do some guest reviews about the Dutch food. Well of course I will help out!

However in my opinion Dutch food is really boring. I mean REALLY boring, you see most of the food consist of potatoes and cooked vegetables nothing added just that :/

So instead of telling you about the boring stuff I wil try to make some "reviews" about the more interesting foods/sweets that the Dutch have to offer.

Up first. Fryske Dumkes!

Fryske Dumkes (lit. translation means as much as Frisian small thumbs)

are small cookies which are for some reason mostly eaten with hot chocolate.

I cheated a bit since this is not Dutch but Frisian instead. But since I am a Frisian I will add them.

For those not familiar with Frisian I will explain. Up north in the Netherlands there is a small province which is called Frisian. We have our own culture and language and also out own specialities ;)

Frisian used to be big, really big. It spanned all the way down to Utrecht (the middle of Holland) all the way up to Denmark across the coasts. But because the Frisian liked to fight, also with themselves, they were overrun by the people of Holland and drawn back in this small province where it lays fairly unknown

You might know Frisian from their cows though. the black and white ones? Yup also Frisian.

So far the History lesson sorry about that ;)

The cookies are always rather small, the ones in the picture are rather big about 10 cm or so. What makes them special is that they are made with anise which give them a very strange but sweet taste.

Fryske Dumkes can only be bought in Frisian (for as far as I know) and are one of the products the stores try to sell to tourists for ridiculous high prices.

My advice, just go to a bakery, much cheaper, fresher and tastier ^^

Only thing I dislike about them is that you get these tiny pieces of anise in your mouth that tend to get stuck between your teeth.

My other advice : Check your teeth for any leftover anise before going out!

Foodview 2.4 Suzuki's, Malvern

Suzuki's, is a new home-cooking style restaurant specialising in Hong-Kongnese and Japanese cuisines somewhere on the eastern side of Melbourne. Why do I seem unsure of the location? That's because I've sent another UAC (up-and-coming) foodviewer to report this new restaurant, Anel Bum!

Unfortunately, Anel got robbed by a bandit and her camera (along with the photos of her food review) are long gone. Don't worry, Anel... just patch up your wounds and bruises, buy a new camera and move on..... on to another career, this line of work ain't cut out for you.

Fortunately, Anel remembered to take-away food for me (left it in the boot of her car prior to her getting robbed... Good thing that bandit didn't look in the boot or my lunch would have been stolen too)

Sweet and sour pork on rice from Suzuki's

Despite being take-away, presentation is great. Unfortunately the food was not served directly from the wok and suffered from condensation in the take-away container.

Presentation is spot on. Colourful to the eye as well as the bite-sized peppers and pineapple.

Sauce is not over-powering and doesnt saturate the pieces in this dish

Meat is fresh and tender. Always a good sign of a good dish.

Overall comments:

It is a very good dish but unfortunately the condensation from the container prevented this dish from receiving full marks. The batter which was thinly coated is a rare find. Places like Laksa King, smother teeny tiny pieces of pork in tons of batter. Very disappointing. That is why I am very strict in handing out points when it comes to reviewing Sweet and sour pork dishes. Great dish overall!

Blog 2.5 Burger King What?

I had lunch with Mr. Nat Chan at Hungry Jack's today. We discussed about potential shoes that I could get to match my skinny jeans. As we waited for our Angry Angus burgers, I recalled that I visited a similar restaurant when I was in Indonesia.

Below is a transcript of my fictitious conversation with my possibly fictitious friend.

Jaystin Unicorn : Hey, Nat Chan did you know that in Bangkok, they not only pirate video games and movies but even restaurants!

Nat Chan : Is that a fact?

Jaystin Unicorn : Indeed, there was a restaurant called Paldo's or Mambo's or something. It was a complete knockoff of Nando's! They even had their own puri-puri sauce.

Nat Chan : How rude.

Jaystin Unicorn : Indeed, anyways they even do it in Indonesia!

Nat Chan : Blasphemy!

Jaystin Unicorn : I kid you not, They have fake Hungry Jack's overthere and they call it, Burger King!

Nat Chan : Sacrilegious!

Jaystin Unicorn : Indeed, do ya know what I mean?

And that ends my fictitious conversation... or is it? Alright, I was just kidding about Indonesians ripping off Burger King. However, for some strange reason, Burger King in Australia is called Hungry Jack's, why? I don't know and I don't care but its strange. Perhaps the Queen has taken offense and so the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard changed it, know what I mean?

On a serious note, I did order an Angry Angus burger when I visited a Burger King during my Indonesian trip.

So the picture above is what any Australian would expected to see and get if they ordered an Angry Angus burger at any Australian Hungry Jack's restaurant. So, you can imagine my reaction when I ordered an Indonesian Angry Angus...

Alright, first is a picture of a Burger King cup. I still was not used to the idea that Hungry Jack's is called Burger King.

The interior design in Indonesia is way better than in Australia. Also the restaurants here are way bigger too!

I never thought I'd see crisps in burgers. I bet in China, they have noodles in their Angry Angus burgers... complete with a bowl of chicken soup.

Blog 2.4 Skinny jeans and Gundam GP03 Dendrobium SD

I've yet to wear my skinny jeans. Reason is because I don't have any shoes that goes with it. The only thing I think would go with the jeans is flip-flops, but that's not happening right in the middle of winter. I've seen Nat Chan in his skinny jeans and he wears chuckies with his skinny jeans.

Foodview 2.3 Fungs Asian Food & Sushi Bar‎, North Melbourne

Today's foodview is sushi from Fung's Asian Food and Sushi Bar in North Melbourne on Errol Street. There are 3 sushi bars on this street alone. With the sushi it's selling, I highly doubt that it will provide any competition to the other two sushi bars.

I ordered a stand sushi, Crispy chicken roll.

A very big portion. As big as my hand.

The first thing I notice is that there is sauce on the chicken. Very unusual. I opted not to put any soy sauce.

Looking at the inside, I was instantly disappointed. The pieces look big because its filled with AIR and batter. Look at the chicken meat... lizards have more meat than this.

The 'meat' doesnt span the length of the 'enormous' sushi. I estimate the sushi's content is 80% rice and 10% batter and 10% chicken meat - and the meat was not fresh.

Overall comments: I gave one point purely because this restaurant tried a different approach to crispy chicken sushi by putting a sweet chilli sauce of some sort. Very very disappointed. I will not return to this establishment ever again.

Today is pau or steamed buns from a new restaurant located in Flemington. Food has been kindly sponsored by Handsome Jade Gundam Services.

The bun was hard when I received it. I had to microwave it for 30seconds to soften it.

First impressions upon opening it. Lots of bun but not meat.

The meat was very chewy - could mean its not freshly made.

Sauce was not as sweet for pau of this type.

Not very impressed with this new restaurant that recently open. Apparently the ex-manager of the mighty Laksa King is the owner of this establishment. A bad start to a series of foodviews that I plan to make on this restaurant.

This picture is just a bottle of regular over the counter painkillers but as you well know, a picture is worth a thousand words and the words this picture wants to convey is as follows:

This bottle of painkillers belongs to none other than everyone's favourite rival, Mr.P. Now, Mr.P gets terrible pains in his calves (for the record, Mr.P is not a farmer and no, Mr.P is not looking for a wife. I am refering to the muscles in Mr.P's legs).

So he would pop one or two of these pills like a billion times a day to relieve his pain (I am sure taking more than 8 of these pills a day will probably shorten his finger/s).

That's fine and to be honest, I don't really care what Mr.P puts in his mouth. However, today he showed me his bottle of pills.

Mr.P : Good morning, Mr. Unicorn.

Mr.Unicorn : Top of the morning to you, Mr. P

Mr.Unicorn : You look rather pale today, didn't you take your pills?

Mr.P : I tried but I can't.

Mr.Unicorn : What do you mean you can't?

Mr.P : Well, something is wrong with this bottle. I can't seem to open it, its like welded shut or something. So I figured maybe you can give it a go since you're on the road to recovery at the gym and might be strong enough to open it.

Mr.Unicorn : Ooooh, I like rivally things

Mr.P : Bet you can't 'cos scientifically, I'm like 8.4x stronger than you!

Bottom line is I did open the bottle and yes, I defeated Mr.P yet again. Oh yea. The power is coming back.

Blog 2.3 The new Laksa King, Flemington

Melbourne's famous Laksa King restaurant relocated down the street on Racecourse Road to Pin Oak Crescent. So I took this opportunity to send out 4 up-and-coming food reviewers to report on the Grand opening.

L-R: Passion, Hops, Nat Chan and Suzuki

Passion drove the crew to the restaurant, Hops was in charge of photography while Nat Chan and Suzuki took care of reviewing the food.

It is very rare to have a restaurant (especially an asian one at that) to give out free food for an entire day. This clearly shows how good business is for Laksa King. Laksa King was closed for about 4 days and reopened its doors from 12 to 8pm. Free food by invitation only - but it appears that anyone walking in can help themselves to the food. Laksa King is now licensed to serve alcohol. Also, the review crew missed out on the Lion dance later that night.

The interior design is very chic and modern. A big change from the old Laksa King.

The restaurant is very much bigger and can now accommodate plenty more customers. No more sitting out in the cold!

Those who frequent Laksa King alot will be taken back by the dramatic change.

The springrolls and curry beef are from the previous menu.

Roti canai was also from the previous menu. However, as all asians know... only the creators, the Indians make the best rotis. A fine example, is the Rich Maha restaurant located along Little Bourke Street in the city but very very pricey.

There was also fried chicken but until the new menu is available, I do not know if this will be on the menu... but most likely not.

A favourite of Suzuki's, fruit and prawn salad

Suzuki hated the curry puff, while Hops like the unique curry puff.

Anel bum's joined the crew later and the Singapore noodles were her favourite.

The return of Fried flat rice noodles... look at the big chunks of chinese sausage... must be a grand opening day thing.

In conclusion, I give the review crew a 3 out of 5 for their review/report... marks deducted for taking pictures of chicken bones and not giving me enough details to do a proper foodview. I also wish Laksa King congratulations on their big grand opening and hope that their food will keep me entertained and satiated. My foodviews on Laksa King to come soon!

As Britney once said, "Oops!... I did it again". I bought another Gundam kit... with no intention to put it together. lol. This time its the Gundam SD GP03 Dendrobium BB 207 from Hobby Link Japan (~AUD30). Like I said before, I like interesting SD gundams and the SD Dendrobium is one of them. By the way, I actually watched the Britney youtube. lol.

To conclude today's blog is a joint mini-foodview between Mr. Nat Chan and myself.

Bon Gateaux French Cream Cheesecake from Woolworths

Breadcrumb base very very crumbly. Poor form.

Consistency is a little thicker than whipped cream.

Mr. Nat Chan : Very slight hint of tangy lemon.

Overall : This product is as the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'. So AUD4 for 2 cheesecakes, that is a steal. There is indeed a tint of lemon in this cheesecake but there isn't any hint of cream cheese in this cake. I like how this cake is not overly sweet. If it wasn't on special I will not buy this cake.

I was in the city on sunday and saw this dude displaying his mad skills along bourke street. I wish my gundams would look like that.

No gym today because I was assisting my neighbour in building a gate and the rest of the day was pretty much wasted.

Stinky Skype upgraded itself without my permisssion and hangs every 30 seconds when I am in a conversation. I hate you skype.

Pete's got tap tap revenge 3 (an iphone app) and I cannot break his score, which ticked me off. I can only thank Anel Bum for misleading me into thinking that I was Melbourne's greatest tap tap revenge 3 person. To top it off, Pete was teasing my poor tap tap revenge 3 skills, called me a girl and gave me a box of tampons.

I have been a loyal follower of the world's first lady of gundam, Prime92. Yes, I too thought she was a he. Anyways, she is awesome! It was thanks to her that I found out about bootleg gundams. Anyhoo, so she is doing a 'let's build a gundam' part by part video on one of the largest High-grade 1/144 gundam models I have ever seen and costs just as much (~AUD347), the Drendrobium. Refer to wiki for definition of gundam dendrobium. This model is just impressive. It's just the thing to re-ignite my passion and desire for gundams again.

Mmm, yea... no. If I have to pick up another robot... it be the Samsung Navibot SR8855 (~AUD1000) robot vaccuuum. Here is possibly the world's worst reviewer ever... even makes my reviews looks ten times better. This lady does NOT actually tell us anything about the Navibot. Where are the answers to the questions that potential customers like myself want to know eg. What is the dust capacity volume?, how long it actually runs on a single charge?, how to actually use the 'virtual guard' that comes with it, and so forth... and who in his/her right mind would sweep the floor with a feather duster.

Oh my gosh, I'm giving this reviewer 0 out of 5 stars. No class at all. That's right, I am reviewing a reviewer. I reckon this is forbidden in the world of reviewers, but she wasted my bandwidth... and I don't have a lot of bandwidth to waste.

Comment: A girl who was about my size came in and was out-lifting me in the deadlifts department. Not wanting to lose, I went up to 30kg on my first day back... in the end she out-lifted me. Sigh. However, it was good she came in otherwise I'd stop at set 3. I will have my revenge, you similar sized girl. Also I will initiate 15min runs on the treadmill. I have asked everyone's favourite rival, Mr.P how far he could run in 15 minutes and set that as my target.

Overall, I am so weak!!! I will shoot myself in my foot if I ever stop going to the gym again.

MY 100th post. I honestly thought I'd quit blogging by then. Anyways that nagging pain in my left elbow that was injured last year is getting more noticeable. Just when I start mending my ways, a road block appears on my path to wearing tight shirts again. So I have to be more cautious, again. Now my whole routine is different since May. It is impractical for me to gym Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and every other Sunday- (another road block - I will not be detered by this!) which leaves me with about 3-4 times a week in the gym. Meaning slacking off is no longer an option, and meaning I absolutely need a very effective weight training routine. Sigh.

Foodview 2.1 Rose Garden, Melbourne

I've been wanting to do this foodview for a while now. So one cold winter day in Melbourne, a random asian person X were to say to another random asian acquintance Y,

Person X: Hmm, I'm feeling very peckish and I'd like to eat chicken ribs.

Without a doubt,

Person Y: "Rose garden, mate, Rose garden".

That's right. Rose garden is famous for its Spicy Chicken ribs. Without fail, on 435 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, nearer to the corner of Franklin street in the city, is Rose garden, where you will find tens of people queuing up to eat there. It is always full. Seriously.

There are tons of dishes available here but I will always order Spicy Chicken ribs. Let's see the pictures. Pictures are nice.

Presentation is simple and looks heavenly.

Crispy batter and meaty chicken. Bow before the almighty MSG!

Usually the first bite or two (especially the crispy bits) sends me into heavenly ecstasy. I serious feel like I've died and gone to Heaven and come back and gone again (with every bite).

I do not recommend you take away. The heaven-sending effect will have dissipated by then. I fully recommend you eat at their tiny restaurant.

Rice usually goes with chicken. duh. Oh chinese tea is free flowing and hot. I love chinese tea.

Another favourite dish of mine is Vermicelli noodles with salted fish and chicken.

I usually ask to have this dish cooked without onions. I hate onions. The big ones, especially in my Hungry Jacks.

I don't think many chinese restaurants offer this type of dish. I know Laksa king only offer vermecilli noodles with its curry laksa.

This restaurant is simply amazing. Reasonably priced and good service too! Just waiting for a free table and lining up in the queue that kills me.

Anyways with biceps had to stop because that nagging elbow injury from last year is still around. Better watch it and strengthen left elbow with triceps and biceps. SIGH.

Anyways very pleased with first day back in the gym after xx days. Today's plan of attack is to keep going until I tired out. Next gym session is on Friday. OH YEA!. I miss you so much, gymmy. Now must fight to stay in shape so that I can beat Mr.P at the next tight shirt competition.

Foodview 2.1 Ichiban Delicious Instant Bowl Noodles

Ichiban Delicious Instant Cup/Bowl Noodles is one of the premium instant noodles of the millions on the asian grocery market scene. Depending on where you shop, it starts from AUD3. Pretty steep.

There are many flavours to choose from obviously but today's pick is "Beef flavour". I might be wrong because I am purely guessing the content purely from looking the packaging, which by the way, is very well done. As you would have guessed by now, I am very happy when makers put effort into the packaging.

Tip: Rip the plastic cover then open the lid HALFWAY only, as per directions on the lid.

From left to right:

a) Meat and its sauce (that's right, vaccuum packed meat. I love the fact that meat is included but you might not so it's a hit and miss with this; I wish I could read chinese and look at the packet for the meat - 10cm!!!);

b) Hot chilli sauce - if you like it hot then put this in!;

c) Dehydrated vegies (mainly peas - all three of them); and last but not least,

d) The sauce for the noodles. - Looks like poo. SPicy even without the chilli sauce

e) Noodles - 9cm wide. Pretty big noodle cake. For $3, they better give a big noodle cake.

The bowl is deep, I recommend you follow the instructions and fill up the bowl with water.

Rip and pour or squeeze all sachets into the bowl. Now put a kettle on and boil some hot water.

Look at that... so pooey. Better not taste like it!

My goodness, it does look very unpleasant.

Very impressed with the meat portions.

Here it is after 5 minutes. (It did say 3 minutes but I nearly forgot about my noodles).

This is one of the meat pieces that I scooped up as it all sank to the bottom of the bowl.

Overall comment

Well, this instant cup (bowl) noodles definitely makes my top ten cup noodles list (currently no.1), but for how many weeks can ICHIBAN DELICIOUS stay at the top? Honestly, I dont think any other brand can knock it off its top spot. For AUD3, its rather expensive but its worth it. I finished the soup, that's how good I thought it was.

Stay tune same badminton channel and badminton time for the next instant cup noodle review. I already got the next contender all lined up. Its gonna be a doosy.

The hotel is on the right. Another hotel is on the left of this picture. This picture may look like a busy road but its not! There is only one supermarket that sells overpriced items... and a pharmacy and thats about it!

Security is tight. this is how Obama feels like.

Nice tropical trees all over the hotel.

Coming back from 'the fresh food people'. the view of the hotel kristal. Actually, Hero sells tainted meat.... so I dont think they are really the fresh food people. No. Fail indeed.

Now on to Jakarta in general:

01. PRIVATE DRIVER. You must absolutely know someone in Jakarta. So get on facebook, add a random Indonesian friends and become their best friend. In return for your friendship, they will provide you with great local knowledge... such as recommending me to a private local driver. We tried two drivers, one guy's car was stinky & was an average driver and the other guy's car was clean and awesome & I believe he is the Indonesian Champion king of drivers. I remember that we paid around AUD70 a day... meaning he would drop us at a shopping mall like Block M, WAIT til we had enough and drove us to another shopping mall. We had him drive us like 6am to 12 midnight. So this is a must.

02. TRAFFIC. I've been to Thailand and Malaysia and I thought the traffic jams were horrendous but I changed my mind once I stepped out the airport in Indonesia. Every time we left for a destination, we'd get stuck in traffic for 2-3 hours. No joke. Also you must not be afraid to die, you must learn to cut in and fight your way through intersections keeping your own lane or forever get stuck. Lastly, I advise to bring a big 2L wide-mouth empty plastic bottle with a cap.

03. MASSAGE CENTERS. I say, one must definitely get a massage in Jakarta. It's completely different than getting a massage in Thailand. It's softer (less painful) and I reckon it focused more on aromatherapy. Anyways, its just different and a must experience.

04. SPEAK INDONESIAN ONLY. Fortunately for me, I lived in Malaysia for a year and so I could speak the Malay language which is similar to the Indonesian language. No one here speaks English (same as with Thailand)

Now onto HOTEL KRISTAL

First things first is that I didn't plan this trip to Indonesia, and just went with the flow with the person who orgnised this trip. So unlike my well-planned Bangkok trip, I will try to be as detailed as possible (and leave out all my complaints).

On the way to the hotel, we passed by a suburb called Pondok Indah. Lots of mega wealthy people live here. The houses shouldn't be classified as mansions but like forts or castle or the White house.

We finally arrived at the hotel, with the driver weaving about the crazy traffic. At the entrance to hotel, there was tight security. Guard dogs, under-car mirrors to check for bombs, bullet-proof vests, the works... all one needed was some gun-fight or explosions. After that, passed the hotel car park. The hotel on the outside looks very polished, clean and nice and gives a good impression. At the lobby, there is another security check. The lobby looked very well, proper and grandish.

There is a massage center - not recommended at all, it was expensive and was not happy with the service.

There is a gym - never seen hotel gyms so packed before. As if I was at a local gym. I do weight training at my local gym in Melbourne and I can say the hotel gym makes the grade. There are personal instructors too.

Nice huge swimming pool and a hot pool too. There was a bar at the swimming pool. Didnt get a chance to visit it. The pool area was big and spacious and very clean. Lots of other guests were relaxing and having fun.

Unfortunately, didn't get a chance to sample the hotel's restaurant food - no free complimentary anything! Poor form.

Since I was travelling with a big group, we stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment. As we made our way to the room, the corridor reminded me of the corridors of condominium or high rise flats back in Malaysia. Rather weird observation but I didn't feel like I was in a hotel.

Upon entering the room, the living room was HUGE and clean. There was a big dinning table, sofas, big lcd TV and the TV unit. The balcony looked out to the road which we came in from. There was split unit air-conditioning in every room.

Single bedroom. Its super cold in here - tiny room and a split unit in your face.

Each room had a wardrobe. Very spacious.

Table counters. Only the master bedroom had its own LCD TV.

Also the master bedroom had its own bathroom and toilet.

The kitchen area had a electric hot plate, microwave, fridge, kettle and a water cooler (staff would come and refill the water - smart people dont drink tap water over here!).

Kitchen area. Water cooler. Electric hot plates. Microwave. The hotel does provide washing detergent. Fridge.

There was a master bedroom (queen size), a double bedroom and a single bedroom. The master bedroom had a nice big bathroom while the other bathroom was small and cramped. The shower cubicle was unfortunately not clean. There was hot water every time someone had a shower though.

There are absolutely no shops in walking distance. There is only one supermarket, shoe shop and a pharmacy - which is adequate for most travelers. However the supermarket, HERO is overpriced and I bought 'fresh chicken' from the meat department which turns out to be tainted and had the world's worst food poisoning ever. You can see my name in the Guinness book of records for achieving this feat. If I was still there, I'd complain to every possible authority known to all Indonesian men!

Whenever we wanted to go out to the big shopping malls, as I said we had to deal with the traffic jam. It is just ridiculous how long we were stuck in traffic. Again.. always travel with a big empty plastic bottle and sit at the back of the van.

I am on the fence about recommending this hotel. The room rates at this hotel is not cheap (for me personally anyways), the location was not great (I know there is always a car or taxi to takes us to the shopping malls)- but what I mean is that, for me personally, I also like to walk out of my hotel and be able to go to nearby shops and restaurants.... not only just the same one and only supermarket. But please note that there were lots of other tourists that were staying at this hotel.

The location of the hotel bugs me the most. I didn't know where the main shopping mall were so until I do more research and planning if I ever go on another trip to Indonesia... I cannot give a recommendation if its the most convenient located hotel.

This is a follow-up from my previous limited edition foodview. Today's limited edition foodview is done by none other than....

Mr. Nat Chan

Ok, maybe not exactly him... but he does sort of look like Torres if he ever gets a proper hair cut. Anyhoo, if one were to read the previous foodview, I received terrible scores from both Miss. Candy and Mr. Nat Chan.

So on Tuesday, I got a chance to foodview Nat Chan. I assured him that there were no grudges or hard feelings, and that I will foodview with integrity and unbiasedness. So let's roll.

You may have noticed that the foodview is on Ibumie and not everyone's favourite ~~rival~~ instant noodle, Indomie.

Difference

Ibu in Malaysian malay means "Mom"; Or if she was a terrible mother, one would say, "Badmo".

Indo in Indonesian malay means "Indonesia"; actually Indo is just short for Indonesia.

It appears that Ibumie is a product of Malaysia. Finally. Something good came out of that country!

This is how the packaging looks like in Melbourne. It may look different in other countries.

Noodles are the same with most brands... so we'll skip the noodles. These are the sauces and powders.

Compare them to Indomie's

Ibumie spent more on their packaging compared to Indomie's cheap lousy packaging. Hullo, presentation much?

Only old people would remember this but 10 years ago back home in my south east asian country (I was like 8 years old back then), Indomie sauces and powders was exactly the same as Ibumie's. The powder packet weren't silver but white in colour. Yes, the chilli was in powder form! Indomie's onions were real fried onions and tasted ten times better than now Ibumie's pseudo-fried onions. I seriously dont believe those things are actually fried onions but same can be said of Indomie's current fried onions.

So good on ya, Ibumie for bringing back good memories but poor form on the amount of sauces and powders. Its just sacrilegious. It is simply not enough, they should have just provided half a noodle cake. Ants would even complain. Sigh. Indomie back then gave more.

Now onto the foodview, Nat Chan had a peculiar method for cooking the noodles. Instead of the usual plop noodle cake in hot water and 2-3 mins in the microwave. He microwaved the noodles ~~ten~~ six times in 30 seconds intervals, for a total of 3 minutes. "I know it takes longer but I can monitor the texture of the noodles", he said.

So right he was. The noodles was neither under nor over cooked. Just right. Despite the fact that you don't eat the noodles as a soup, he add just a tiny amount of water to make it a bit saucy. Brilliant move.

Overall score : 4 out of 5

Comment : He did require help taking the bowl out of the microwave and trying to strain the noodles with a pair of chopsticks. He deserves a fist-pump for his efforts. Plus there was no egg accounted for, aha! So yea a great score for egg-less instant noodles. Marks were deducted for presentation. Hullo, presentation much?

Foodview 1.9 Petaling street, Glen Waverley

I have a friend, his name is Kor which stand for 'King of restaurants'. This guy is the ultimate foodie. He rarely eats at home. When he was living in Tasmania, he ~~conquered~~ ate at every restaurant that island had to offer. The stacks of business cards that he has amassed during the years is evidence of this and now, he has moved to Melbourne. His ~~killing~~ eating spree has already begun, starting on the east side of Victoria.

So when he told me about this restaurant named, Petaling Street, I was immediately intrigued. I have been disappointed by many restaurants in Melbourne claiming to serve authentic Malaysian cuisine. (In my opinion, the only restaurant that does come close to this claim would have to be Laksa King, yes, I will do foodviews on them when they have finished renovating their brand new restaurant in Flemington).

My first visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was when around 1990. Back then chinatown or Petaling street was authentic and real and what I imagined what chinatown should be, a must visit for any tourist. The experience was surreal. Fast forward ten years, Petaling street has lost all of its appeal, its no longer what it was. All the chinese traders have hired other nationals to care for their stalls, and even the variety of items that are sold have become uninteresting and it seems like every second stall were selling the same things. Suddenly, its better to shop at Tesco. However there is a restaurant in Petaling, that is as dirty as, and I was brave enough to try their roasted pork and egg noodles. a definite 5 out of 5 stars dish. If I ever go back, I must map out the route to find that restaurant and take photos.

With this in mind, any restaurant calling themselves, Petaling street, would have to live up to their name. I will not let my memories be destroyed any further.

Even though, its my first time eating at this restaurant, it appears to be around for quite awhile as it has three branches.

A chicken dish with sweet spicy sauce. Home cooking style .

The sauce was more sweet then spicy. A few chicken pieces were very chewy -almost like it was not complete cooked. We did not eat these pieces - not risking any potential food poisoning. Already disappointed with the first dish and was very ordinary looking.

Next up is Combination crispy egg noodles with beef instead of chicken.

I have never seen this dish served with broccoli. The beef was nicely done. Some restaurants would go crazy with the sauce when cooking combination crispy noodles. Here the sauce served is jsut the right amount. Laksa King for example goes a bit over board with their sauce - resulting in not so crispy noodles. However, the sauce was very salty, very.

Taste : 1 out of 5 stars

Tear-drop noodles or Lo Shi Fun, are stubby rice noodles which looks more like worms. So if one were to eat it 'dry' (not soup based but with a sauce) especially with dark sauce, then you can say, "Hey mom! Look at me, I am eating soil and worms!" :|

It has been a really long time since I have eating these noodles. Please don't let me down!

Third's time the charm! The sauce and the minced beef was just the right taste - not to salty. I should have tried this as a soup.

As you can tell from my scores, I was not impressed with this restaurant. Thank goodness the Lo Shi Fun was the saving grace for me. I will not come back here again.

By the way, Mr. Nat Chan showcased his skill and reaffirmed to the common people why he was Australia’s current FIFA10 champion by comprehensively beating Mr.P at FIFA10 (PS3 version) recently. In fact, I have comprehensively defeated Mr.P at FIFA10,

Game 3 didn't happened because Mr. P was getting grumpy, and I could hear his knuckles cracking as he was clenching his fists (in a Street Fighter 4-ish way) in my general direction as well as changing into his tight shirt. I left as fast as I could. So what does this mean for eeveryone’s favourite rival©? Is he still able to be competitive at all? Do I have to find another rival? Should I try to aim my sights at the Australian champion? Hmmmm.

Before I continue my little story, I must shed a little more background about my work. As previously mentioned, I met Mr.P on an now-defunct internet rival website. Soon after meeting Mr.P, I quit my old job as a paralegal, and moved to my current job where I happened to meet none other than Mr.P! ~~We then started dating~~. So we've worked together for more than 20 years and everyone was happy. Then one day, out of the blue, Mr.P announced to all of us that he will also work for our rival company, The Dark Side. We never questioned his decision, in fact, we accepted his decision for doing such a dastardly deed.

Back to the present day, actually a few days ago, I’ve discover that Mr.P is throwing a party for the rival company! I can only imagine all sorts of emotions that other staff members must be feeling. Sadness, rejection… but the best way to put these emotions into words is to ask my fellow workmates

Nat Chan : “Words cannot describe the pain I feel at this betrayal”

Anel Bum : “He should spend more time trying to get our company a party”

Konan : “I don’t give a #$%&” (Perhaps, Konan was trying to repress her feelings on the matter)

T : " I think its better this way... for the Dark Side doesn't go well with us.

So what is the conclusion to this? Well, I don't think there isn't any happy ending for this story except to watch this clip.

Guide 04. How to make natchan!

Suntory is a japanese brewery. I have not tried their beer as yet. However, Mr. Chan has requested for a foodview and sponsored a drink made by Suntory called natchan! which is basically orange juice. I like this idea, if anyone has any recommendations for a restaurant or drink that you would liked to have foodviewed, drop me a comment. Sponsors most definitely welcomed :)

Comment: I have tasted better orange juices. AUD3 for a small sized drink is too much to pay in my opinion. However the bottle is of high quality and it appears the company focused more on the package rather than the contents. It really is a nice bottle... which gives me an idea! This foodview is now about to become a guide.

Items required for this guide:

Scissors

4x bendy straws

A plastic bottle

Clear sticky tape

Optional: Marker pens of different colours

This is a simple project that one can do together with their children or a great idea for those who work in childcare.

With your scissors, cut the straw at the bendy end. Cut about 1-2 cm away from the bendy section.

After that, cut the tip about 1 cm deep. Then cut perpendicular to your first cut until you get the following

This enables you to stick on the bottle.

Sticky tape all four sides.

Cut a couple more straws to make the legs

This time, just cut the tips once like so and stick it to the FRONT of the bottle so it looks like the following

So natchan! appears to be sitting on the table. The advantage of keeping the bendy sections is that you can move its 'arms' and 'leg's to any position you want! Have fun!

Oh, if you cannot get your hands on a natchan! drink, then any plastic bottle will do, just use marker pens to draw its face!

Foodview 1.8a Pacific house, Melbourne

Pacific house is located in three locations, Richmond, South yarra and Lonsdale street in the city.

In my opinion, the best branch is at Richmond because only at this branch, you get free soup with your order! I love soup and for me that is a great deal! Tea is free and flowing, as always at any good asian restaurant. However, service is really bad... but seriously, name me one person in this great city that goes to asian restaurants expecting to get good service? As long as I get the right order and the food is great then I will not complain.

If you want service, then go dine at Maze. This blog is about reviewing awesome food at a ~~cheap~~ reasonable price.

I will just review three dishes from this establishment starting with Chicken fried in salted egg batter. This is a main dish, meaning this is meant to be share by 2-3 persons. Rice or noodles has to be ordered separately. I've not tried anything like this elsewhere. Nice idea. The taste is just great. Highly recommended.

Guide 03. Nintendo DS Lite Replacement Case

DISCLAIMER: gundamhotel and jaystin unicorn risked their warranties on their nintendo ds lite when they opened up their case. so please decide wisely before attempting to open up your own ds! the author of this site does not accept any responsibility if you bricked your nintendo ds. ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Oh! Woe is me! I cracked the hinge on my dslite. Apparently this happens alot. Never fear! I can replace my case! All I need are

01. A sharp thin blade eg. Razor blade

02. A Triwing screwdriver that you can buy from dealextreme.com for only a few Australian dollars. The only catch with their free shipping is the wait ~1-2 months.

Here is my shiny gold ds lite. Its really shiny. It is. Anyways,

01. Remove game catridge and GBA catridge.

02. There are six screws on the outer bottom case and two under the battery.

03. Use your triwing screwdriver and mini-philips screwdriver to get at them.

04. There are two hidden under the rubber grips. Use your blade to get under the rubber grip. Retain and rubber grips and try not to wreck the adhesive so you can later reattach it.

05. Remove the screw on the battery cover. Hint: The battery cover screw is attached to the case.

06. Remove the two remaining screws under the battery. Remove them

07. Last screw is where the DS catridge slot is. Use triwing to remove this.

08. Remove case carefully. Might need a tiny screwdriver to pry the case apart. CAREFULLY

This is the motherboard.

09. Now we note where the microphone and antenna wires gets attached to the green motherboard.

10. Note how the wireless antenna wire RUNS UNDER the DS game catridge and then under the motherboard.

11. Note trigger button mechanism. Careful the spring is very jumpy. Store away carefully. Rod slips out easily.

12. After noting wire arrangement and carefully removing and storing shoulder trigger buttons. We now unplug the microphone and antenna wires from the motherboard. Use a screwdriver and gently unplug it with a gentle nudge.

13. Now slowly push out BOTTOM screen to separate motherboard.

Hint 1: push at the corners to avoid wrecking screen with your soft finger tips.

Hint 2: The motherboard is STILL attach to upper case. SO DONT PULL APART VIGOUROUSLY.

14. We've now separate motherboard from bottom case and now we have ONE last flat wire to remove.

Note all the buttons and its rubber padding.

-direction pads and button

-A,B,X,Y pads and buttons

-START and SELECT pads and buttons

Store away carefully.

15. This is the flat wire in its LOCKED position.

16. With a flathead tiny screwdriver, gently place it between the brown band and black band.

17. Gently nudge and lift up the black lock.

18. Now you can gently remove the flat wire in its UNLOCKED position.

19. As Martin Luther King, Jr said, "Free at last"

20. Working on the last part of the bottom case. Unscrew these two screws that holds the swiveling mechanism in place (Holds the top screen in place when you play your ds).

Note: These pair of screws are longer than the other screws and these screws also hold the top face of the bottom case to the upper case.

21. Now we need to remove the flat wire. Note the groove, this groove allows us to remove the flat wire. Be ten times extra careful. The flat wire is sensitive like some girls I've known in the past.

22. You might have to roll the flat wire. Then slide the flat wire head into the groove.

23. And slide it out. You might be tempted to roll it until it becomes smaller than the hole but this is not possible as the head is harder than the flexible body and does not bend as much; plus its sensitive and you might wreck it. Just roll the body enough to let the head fit into the groove and also let the body pass through the hole. In any case, the head must pass through the groove.

24. Now we have separated the top face of the bottom case from the top case. Now we can work on the upper case/screen.

25. After removing bottom case, remove the led light glass protector as it might get lost.

26. Now we are left with 4 screws.

27. Use the razor blade to remove the rubber grips to reveal these four screws. These are harder to remove. Remember to try to not remove the adhesive so you can reattach it later.

Note: The rubber grips on the sides of the upper case can easily get lost. They also have adhesive so store these away carefully to reattach later.

28. Once all four screws are removed, slide out the swivel mechanism.

29. Now we grip bottom and top face. Slide the top face (shiny gold part) to unlock it from bottom face.

30. Pry open the two face with a mini screwdriver like so. CAREFULLY!

31. Separated. Green is antenna with its black wire.Two speakers. Screen. If you can see it, the microphone with its white white at the bottom. The flat wire connects the top screen to the motherboard.

32. Now roll the flat wire to slide out the metal ring. Once the flat wire is out, gently tap out upper screen from the upper case. Careful, the adhesive of the upper screen is more sticky than the bottom case. Need to use a bit more pressure to push it out.

Note: Remember to also remove the metal ring when transferring to your new replacement case

33. We have now taken apart the case! Now just repeat the process in reverse with your new replacement!

34. You bloody crack. You gave me so much grief. If anyone has any questions on taking apart the case, send me a comment and I will reply to it.

Foodview 1.7 Gold Star Noodle House, Melbourne

Its Argentina 0 v 1 Germany. Go Germany!!!

Tis' a good time to do a foodview. This one comes from the heart of Melbourne. From the corner of Bourke St and Russell St, walk a short distance towards Swanston st, and you will hit Midcity Plaza. It's right next to Cotton On and opposite KFC. Located in Midcity plaza is an Optus shop (this is where I buy my internal phonecards), an anime store (there do sell overpriced gundams, and sometimes rare Masterpiece Transformers and other cool japanesy toys) and lots of asian restaurants.

The most popular of these restaurants, without a doubt, would be Pancake Desert House (PDH). I will do a foodview of this establishment in the near future. Today, I will do a foodview of one of the other restaurants that have been over-shadowed by the mighty PDH, Gold Star Noodle House. It is right opposite PDH.

Nice wallpaper. What is with that left bottom corner? The owners of the restaurant made an effort to make the place look nice. Good job. PDH just has tables to herd customers to.

Very nice menu design.

I am going to based my next website design on this menu.

Designs aside, prices are reasonable.

Starters is fried chicken pieces. I like the effort in presentation. +

Straight forward deep fried chicken. Flavours didn't jump around in my mouth. Still tasted good. Portion is a bit small for my liking.

Fried rice noodles with beef and egg sauce.

Home-cooking style. Egg sauce is done well. Noodles were very salty. --

I believe this restaurant's main specialty are noodle soups. I ordered Egg noodles in chicken broth with Fried chicken with bonus: Egg boiled in soy sauce!

Alternative to noodle soup is steamed rice with bonus egg.

The soup was not as salty as the rice noodles but it was a bit weak on flavour.

The texture was a bit tough on the edges though. Beneath the chicken were fried cabbage and carrot which was soaked in oil. Strictly as garnish only. One of the best looking fried chicken around.

Worth a visit for first timers. However, not to sure about this place becoming a regular fixture for me. Price is very reasonable but was reflected by the small portions. Loved the restaurant's design. Something different.

Blog 1.8 New Gundams

I picked up two hard-to-find gundam SDs whilst I was in Indonesia. Didnt expect to find any gundams to be honest but when I saw them, I just had to get them despite proclaiming my departure from gundam building.

I got three gundam SDs but one of them is the very common and easily found Exia SD. King of gundam has a building blog on it. What I am more excited to blab about is Astray Red Frame SD! According to 1999.co.jp, this has been long sold out.

Droolz. Finally this guy can accompany my MG Astray blue frame 2nd revise.

Seems like the older SD gundams have more plates then the newer gundams. Part of building these gundams is putting them together. I like value for money meaning that I like to have lots of parts for my gundams.

The B plate with the red parts and the poly caps that make movement possible.

The C plate with the shield, crotch and shoulder parts. I dont really like the red frame's shoulders, I prefer the blue frame's. That is why I got the MG blue frame, but the newer MG red frame has 2 sweet chrome plated katanas

Last plate with face part, backpack and head.

I also picked up Destiny SD which according to 1999.co.jp, is also sold out. I think I would appreciate these gundams more, if I watched the anime. I am just going by grabbing unique looking gundams. I did try watch Gundam seed, I forced myself to watch 10 minutes of one episode. It is pretty uninteresting.... I must say.

These plates have nice bright colours. A plate have feet and inner wings?

Its funny that they only provide one set of hands, with one in a 'give me high 5' pose.

Ok this gundam was on sale at the same shop but I got this on pre-order at 1999.co.jp. The gundam that started it all.... inspiring me to create my internet last name, UNICORN. Oh by the way, yesterday I met a lady whose last name is, 'Last'. How awesome is that?

I got this from 1999.co.jp. for 1480 yen which is roughly AUD20. Rip off! Well its better than buying it in Melbourne... AUD30-40!

I am actually very disappointed with the unicorn. The box is big as, but so few plates and parts. I can put this together in 5 seconds. What?

Look at that! So few parts... at least there is some see-thru parts.

Why is the blade curved? Can beam swords curve? I like my beam swords to be straight... grrr

So these are my latest gundams that will go back into its respective boxes which will go into storage. I might consider selling them for some outrageous price. I know there are some hard-core gundam fans outthere who will pay anything to get their hands on this Gundam Astray Red frame SD!!!! AUD100 anyone? lol

I don't twit because I think twitting should only be done via mobile phone. However, my mobile phone is as old as time.

My very first mobile phone was in 2000, since then I've had 4 or so phones. The above picture is my current phone. As you can see mobile twitting is not possible at all.
