Blog 1.5 Current MYCNM Badminton rankings

Today's post is unnecessary but warranted. I could have posted a foodview but noooo, I have to write a childish post to justify the current MYCNM badminton rankings.

So how the MYCNM badminton rankings work is really simple.
a) Rankings are calculated per tournament.
b) Every tournament is held fortnightly.
c) Rankings points are awarded for the player who has played more games, and
d) won each game they participated in

So based on this, The latest and current rankings are as of 30/40/2010 is as follows.
01. Jaystin Unicorn (Previously ranked no.4 on match day 1)
02. Mr. P (Previously no.3)
03. Donna Legend (Previously no.2)
04. Suzuki Swift (Previously no.5)
04. cK Tree (Previously no.5)
05. Anel Bum (Newcomer)
06. Nat Chan (Previously no.1)

Now let's say Player X goes on an European excursion and no matter how skilled Player X is in Badminton, if you don't play you don't get ranked. It's simple math, Play + Win = Rank. So to run your mouth to say you should be the no.1 player (when I played my heart out and even comprehensively beaten Mr.P to earn my no.1 position), is really silly. It's shameful.

It's like saying I am the greatest FIFA10 player in Australia when you the only person you challenged is someone by the name of P.

It's like coming to work without pants or for certain individuals, not wearing tight jeans to work.

It's like saying you are love Indomie Mi Goreng noodles but don't know how to use chopsticks.

It's like waking up at 4am in the morning to watch your favourite football club lose miserably.

You get my point. Even in a recent fictitious interview with everyone's favourite rival©, Mr.P, said

Jaystin Unicorn: What do you think about players who run their mouth with disrespectful baseless remarks?

Mr.P: Nothing.

Jaystin Unicorn: Do you think Player X is a rudypoo?

Mr.P: Yes.

Jaystin Unicorn: Do you know what a rudypoo is?

Mr.P: Player X.

Jaystin Unicorn: This interview will be a short one eh?

Mr.P: Yes.

That's right. I shouldn't say nuthin' at all 'cause my rankings says it all, but I still am because I can and I have a medium to speak out against disrespectful rudypoos like Player X.

Blog 1.4 A real interview with Mr. Nat Chan

This is the continuation from Part 1.

JU : So Nat Chan what were your feeling watching today's Champions league game between Barca and Inter?
NC : I was deeply saddened by the loss but I felt Inter deserved it.

[NB: Nat Chan is loyal Barcelona FC supporter]

JU : Indeed, So Nat Chan do you think you are the greatest FIFA10 player in Melbourne?

NC : Easily the best, much better than Mr. P.

JU : I heard that Mr.P has adopted a new BFF (aka Best FIFA10 Friend) by the name of Alfie and apparently he has his sights on you. Any comments?

NC : Hmm, this Alfie sounds pretty mysterious but I think I can take him.

JU : Did you know that Alfie was the one who spilt the beans on you regarding the infamous FIFA10 game between yourself and Mr.P? He basically called you a low-down dirty scum pus-filled boil on your nose cheat. Any comments?

[Nat Chan surprise Mr.P by scoring from 70 yards out. He went on to defeat Mr.P. Mr.P finally understood how Jaystin Unicorn feels after losing comprehensively to Nat Chan]

NC : I can only laugh at that comment, hahaha, it is obvious he is jealous of my world-renowned FIFA 10 skills.

JU : You are after all the current Australian IPKFF FIFA10 champion

NC : Exactly, he should show some respect

JU : Keep it real, should he?

NC : Yeah

NC : BBT style.

[BBT stands for Brothers Before PotaToes. This phrase is similar to BFF but is a term that is used for mainly by men in healthy manly non-homosexual relationships]

JU : Do you think these questions are inflammatory?

NC : Of course not.

JU : On with the questions, So we have establish your talent in FIFA10, what about other sports, such as badminton?

NC : Badminton, I am a champion. I have already beaten Mr. P once and I plan to again.

JU : I see but did you know that since you have been away on your European excursion, that your rankings have dropped and that myself, Jaystin Unicorn, has become the new number one in badminton? Any comments

NC : Well, it looks as though I'll have to beat everyone again then.

JU : A man who is not afraid. Ladies like that in a man

JU : So do you have a lady in your life?

NC : Not at the moment, no.

JU : Are you currently seeking for one?

NC : Not currently, I am focused on studying, badminton and beating JU and Mr. P.

JU : Wow what manly qualities you possess, surely you know that these make you even more desirable to ladies, young and old.

NC : Well, I don't know about that one Jaystin.

JU : Oh I see, do you think its because you wear tight jeans?

NC : I think the ladies enjoy tight jeans.

JU : Thats all we have for today, Thank you for your time. Gundamhotel really appreciates you taking time to sit through this interview. We hope through this, more people will get to know their current FIFA10 champion. Do you have any last comments for your readers?

NC : Thank you for your loyal support, and be champions!

JU : Spoken like a true champion. Thank you Mr. Nat Chan.

Foodview 1.2 Indomie Mi Goreng, Jaystin Unicorn

Today's foodview is brought to you by YesStyle. A new way of style. Now with Free Shipping to Australia (conditions apply). Click on the ad on the sidebar to visit their site!

Today is no ordinary foodview, folks. A very special edition of foodview for the entity that is being reviewed today is none other than myself, Jaystin Unicorn, and the food critics are Miss. Candy and Mr. Nat Chan.

Introductions
This 4 minute instant noodle is as popular as La Porchetta, however, Indomie tastes much better than any dish from La Porchetta. Competitively priced at AUD0.60 a pack, the manufacturers have hit pay dirt on this MSG loaded snack. Unhealthy much? Its so popular there is even an australian website. If one ever needs advice on which shares to buy, you know what to tell them.

Nat Chan
Metrosexual. Badmouths Mr.P behind his back, alot. Current IPKFF Australian FIFA10 champion. Currently single and available. Interested ladies young and old please leave a comment to arrange a date with Nat.

Miss. Candy
Swim coach. Former National breast stroke 200m swimmer for the Malaysian team. Currently training for a 4km walk (Note: This run is not the same as the Spirit of Maribyrnong 4km run that I am involved in). Interested learners please leave a comment to arrange a session with Candy.

For Nat Chan's order was two packets of Indomie. Two cakes of noodles in deep bowl with hot water just covering noodles for 5 minutes. Luckily there was a plate underneath to catch water spilling over. For my first time cooking two cakes of noodles in the microwave, I was quite satisfied with the outcome. Not overcooked and not too hard.

Candy ordered one packet of Indomie with an egg. Cooked the noodles for 2 and a half minutes, cracked an egg in and cooked for a further 1 and half minute. Sadly the noodles was soft (overcooked) and surprisingly the egg was thoroughly cooked. I realised I had put too much water. I knew this would get me a low score.

Verdict.
Both Nat and Candy finished the meal which is always a good thing.
Candy's overall score : 2 out of 5 stars
Candy's comment : "overcooked noodles and egg"

Nat's overall score : 3 out of 5 stars
Nat's comment : "nice but could be better"

Total averaged score : 2.5 out of 5 stars

Conclusion
As predicted Candy's score put me barely over the 50% mark. Well I have eaten some humble pie tonight. Now I know how it feels to have my food reviewed so moving forward, I will be even more impartial when doing foodviews of local Melbourne establishments. Some comments regarding tonight is that I am sure that 4 minutes in the microwave is the time needed to cook instant noodles and the amount of water used is important. Perhap for egg to be half cooked, it should be cooked for about 1 min +/- 10 secs.

Foodview 1.1 La Porchetta, North Melbourne

I have a backlog of foodviews so I am frantically clearing them. This one is from 30th January, the day the current SFM Street Fighter Australian Champion, Chun Li, leaves Melbourne and returns back to China to continue her Street Fighter World tour.

The place where we held our farewell dinner for Chun Li was at North Melbourne's La Porchetta.

Nat Chan lighting the candle with his finger and Chun Li swearing at the photographer.

Chun Li and her crew.

Even Mr.P and the legendary Donna showed up.

Now on to the bad section. La Porchetta is famous throughout Melbourne. If you don't know what La Porchetta is, then, you are not a Melbournian. For me personally, I think the food is bland and overpriced. Therefore this foodview will not be a good one unfortunately.

The calamari was the only good thing that we ate that night. Though it was not as good compared to Top Catch.

The steak. Medium to well-done was requested. The meat was very chewy, if there was ever a beef flavoured chewing gum, this would be it.

The chips were ordinary. Very disapponting.

Cabonara. Tasteless. I couldn't taste any flavours at all.

Another disappointment. The plate is very nice though. Very big and heavy.

Pizza. Half and half. Aussie and BBQ Chicken.

Despite looking very yummy. My tastebuds went to sleep.

For an italian restaurant, I feel as if the cooks have lost their passion for food. I would dare to say that Pizza hut pizzas tastes better than theirs. How bad is that?! Definitely overrated and why the chain is popular is beyond me.

If you like Japanese and/or Korean fashion, then YesStyle is the site for affordable clothing and if you spend more than AU$150 you get free express shipping in Australia! Not even Handsome Jade can resist such a deal! And now on to the interview...

Mr. Nat "metro" Chan is the current Australian IPKFF Fifa10 champion. He has currently just returned from Barcelona, where he train with the likes of L. Messi. However, he sustained an injury during his training and returned back to Australia just only missing the volcanic eruption which delayed lots of flights.

Jaystin Unicorn JU: Welcome Mr. Chan, thank you and YesStyle for this interview.

Nat Chan NC: It's my pleasure.

JU: Do you like Japanese fashion?

NC: Of course I do, I am after all, the most metrosexually active person in Melbourne.

JU: You mean not only do you wear extremely tight skinny jeans with converse shoes, but also Drawstring Waist Calf-Length Sweat Shorts?

NC: Of course! I have such beautiful calves, and these drawstring calf-length shorts highlights them oh-so-well.

JU: So what do you think of rumours that you cheated in that infamous FIFA10 match against everyone's favourite rival©, Mr.P?

NC: Ah, the game where I scored a goal from 70 yards out? Well ...

JU: Well, did you know that I found a weight bench last night, and carried it home. It was in excellent condition!

NC: Excuse me, rude much? Isn't this interview about me?

JU: Its called, Hyper-Extension and it almost looks like that as its an older model. Now I can workout at home as well as at the gym!

NC: I'm like upset, but I forgive easily... and Yes!, I have exciting foodviews from Europe!

JU: Well, I hope you don't keep us waiting! So what do you think of my upcoming review of my Gundam Freedom SD!

NC: I thought you were over Gundams?

JU: Yes I am, but yesterday, I thought why not finish what I started. So I went and built the Freedom together and will hopefully finish painting it.

NC: Will there be badminton next week?

JU: I am not sure. But stay tuned, same badminton channel and same badminton time!

NEWS : There is no badminton tournament on the 2nd May 2010. As there will be a Taekwondo tournament going on in the hall. Sorry guys. I know you can't wait for me to defeat all of you, especially a Mr. Nat Chan (who is Mr.P?). Hopefully, we can play the next fortnight 16th May 2010.

Day 03 Breastroke swim : 300m (100m continuous lap for first 100m; the remaining 200m could only manage 50m)
Still in rehab mode for biceps and triceps. Using 5kg dumbbells. Not worth mentioning reps and sets.

Day 02 Breaststroke swim : 225m (50m continuous laps)

Day 01 Breaststroke swim : 150m (50m continuous laps)

So if I were to plot my stamina progress on a excel spreadsheet 'cos that's what I love to do. I would get a graph the would shoot upwards to the sky exponentially. Oh yea. That's what I love to see.

Tuesday night, appointment with Vanessa, who is starting an exercise programme for my chicken legs.

Met a new friend, Paul. Who tells me he can run but no more than 10km. He taught me how to breath in a long distance run, "In, In, Out, Out, Out". That is breath in 2 breathes and breathe out 3 in a stride. Now I need to verify this, as I don't usually take advice from strangers. Well he technically is a stranger since I just met him. He said 4km runs are easy-peasy. He can do one in 20 minutes. ooooh. The tip he said is to go all flat out. ooooh. I must verify this again. I haven't turned to my most reliable source, YouTube. Thanks to Youtube, I can swim, ping pong, badminton and even colour my gundam. YouTube educates as well.

One thing about swimming is it tires me out to the max. Come home and zzz. This must mean its working. So 300m down and 700m more to go. Hopefully, I can do some weight training tonight.

Foodview 1.0 Curry House CoCo ICHIBANYA, Thailand

Curry House CoCo ICHIBANYA. A japanese restaurant franchise with branches in Thailand, Korea, China, Taiwan and in Hawaii. From the name of the restaurant, you can gather it specialises in japanese curries. Reminds me of japanese comic, Addicted to curry. A terrible story line and shallow characters. Quickly gave up this title.

This place is popular. People queuing and waiting for tables.

Dishes that have been frozen in time and on display. A variety of accompaniment can be had with your curry. I always wondered how the food are preserved in these displays

Prices start from 150THB which is roughly AUD5.

You pay for what you get. Look at the meat portion. So tiny. This isnt even a proper kid-size serving, its more along the lines of foetus-size portion. If only foetuses can eat curry...

The design of the restaurant is very nice. I wasnt brave enought to take pictures of the place cos people were looking at me taking pics of my food.

The menu's design is pretty snazzy.

There is a section for fish, chicken, pork, vegetarian, etc.

Porklets and mild curry. There are three hotness of curry. I opted for the mildest. However, correct me if I am wrong but I reckon japanese curries aren't meant to be hot and spicy.

Fish cutlets. I was crying (re: small meat portion) when this dish was served.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

So I didnt finish my rice. Too much rice and the curry was bland. I was upset, but one might say 'tis was only AUD5', but for AUD4, I can get a full yummy McDonald's breakfast value meal back in Melbourne. Shameful. There was nothing special about the pork nor the fish. Disappointed big time.

In other news, Nat Chan is back from his Barcelona FC training. Unfortunately, he picked up a knee injury will got him kicked out from a promising future at a footballer. Anyways, more importantly is that he has FOODVIEWS! Yes, a first for this review site, a guest foodviewer. And its food from Barcelona. So exciting. Also Nat Chan came back with gifts too. Tight shirts for me and everyone's favourite rival, Mr.P. Unfortunately, Mr.P looked better in his tight shirt.

Grrr, I will training ten times harder for the Spirit of Maribyrnong 4km fun run. I need to start mapping the Maribyrnong river and see a nice section for our run. Maybe Ms.Netball will know since its her home turf. Also it has been agreed that their will be a prize!. Currently the prize fund is at AUD1.00.

In other news, I did laundry for the first time in XXX months. I forgot that a red shirt thrown in with the whites. I now have 3 pink shirts, a shirt that grew from medium to extra large and a several pink towels.

Lastly happy belated birthday to Nat Chan who turns 22 this year and Good luck to Suzuki for her exam.

Blog 1.1 Candy's Hot Pot Night with Wii

Hot pot night with Wii! This momentous occasion was hosted by master chef Candy. A big shout out to her and her assistant chefs, Suzuki and Legend.
"Nyam nyam!"
View from the other side. Hand courtesy of Legend.
Yummy all the goodness boiling inside.

Fishball (two varieties) and fried bean curd.

Bean curd and crabsticks

Veggies. Yuck.

Custom Candy special Malaysian edition Dumplings. (The subject of my foodview)

Mushrooms (two varieties)

All good hot pots must be cooked in "ying and yang" fashion. Balance of spicy tom yam soup and chicken soup.
Vermicelli noodles.
NOTE: The following pictures may be distressful to some. You have been advised to stop reading from this point onwards.
This doggie is called dogmeat. Candy bought this dog at the dogmarket cheap for the following reason..
DOG MEAT! Tasted like beef.

Egg noodles and Candy's custom limited edition dumplings

Cat meat was eaten on that night as well.
These dumplings were store bought.

This would be my second time playing Wii. My favourite games were the Mario Tennis and Rabbid party (I think these rabbids are the same characters from the game, Crash Bandicoot)?

For the record I defeated Mr.P in Tennis. Winning feels so good especially when its against an eternal rival.

Trying to figure out what's he's scooping out from the hot pot.

After shots of food after being cooked from hot pot

More shots of my food. I realise I take my pictures of food than people. Guess I am more of a foodple-person than people-person.

The selection of food was great. The beer selection by Mr.P and Mr. D was great. And big shout out to Mr.D for bringing his Wii games.

Big shout out for Maria for teaching me how to resize multiple photos in one go. -_-"

Taste : 5 ouf of 5 stars
Overall : 5 out of 5 stars

In other sporting news, I will start training for the annual Maribyrnong 4km fun run. The number 1 seed, the Italian Scallion, Ms. Netball will be defending her title! Mr.P might be in this event most probably to take revenge for losing to me. Start swimming first up to build up stamina!

In other local news, Mr. Chan is coming back from Barcelona FC, and I still have not started my DSi case mod. Yup its been sitting on my shelf ever since Mr. Chan entrusted it to me. I will start case mod! ... next weekmonthyear?

Ooooh does this also mean I will lose my no.1 badminton ranking? Stay tuned for same badminton channel and same badminton time.

Review 0.9 Kimi ni Todoke (From me to you) Anime

I haven't been watching anime for the longest while. Very picky with anime considering my declining interest in the subject and the little time I can spend on watching anime or reading manga. So my rule of thumb if I do want to waste time then I must only watch exceptional quality anime. If It can contain and maintain my interest, it will get my nod of approval .

Honey and clover was a big disappointment. Great first episode but failed in the 2nd or 3rd episode. Fruits basket is my benchmark for all animes. Shed a tear or two, I did. So stumbled over this 2009 title, Kimi ni Todoke (From me to you). The lead character, Kuronuma Sawako is very similar to Honda Tohru of Fruits Baskets

I have watch 10 episodes out of 25 episodes and all the episodes are well written and never dulled. I must admit that even Fruits basket let me down here and there, but its still great! The plot is simple, a lonely high school girl gets helped by the popular guy and she slowly comes out of her shell and begins to fall in love with the guy.

Read and seen these stories so many times, but the author delivers this to the reader in a refreshing way. (I assume and expect that) Boy and girl will get together gradually but you know, I didn't mind waiting to know until the end because of how the story is approached and the characters are not the usual suspects that I have have become accustomed to.

The animation and drawings are great, very dynamic and no cutting corners, the company that produce this anime is one to watch for. The soundtrack including the opening theme song, of the same title performed by Tomofumi Tanizawa is a great choice. I like this style of music, very similar to Shikao Suga. I simply must compare the anime to the manga, but for now I give this anime

Story : 5 out of 5 stars
Animation : 5 out of 5 stars
